Walking along the row of seafood restaurants by Jeju Fish Market, every restaurant had people at the door trying to lure us inside. We ended up picking this place because it was the largest and most packed (at least it looked that way cuz' they sat everyone by the window). Unfortunately for us, it was one of the worst dinners we ever experienced. The waitress recommended a few sets and items to us, but we opted for some other dishes. Perhaps it's because these dishes were cheaper that the food did not meet our satisfaction. Anyway, the "sashimi" and "sushi" we ordered were pretty terrible. Maybe we're used to Japanese sashimi and we don't have any other Korean sashimi experiences to compare to, but the fish was all very chewy and I wasn't a fan of the bones in the fish. We also ordered abalone porridge. It was pretty tasteless and I've definitely had better in LA. There was a fried fish we ordered that was not that great, too. Anyway, not everything was terrible... the corn cheese, squid, and fried sweet potato that came with the sashimi dinner were good.
At the end of the day, we felt kind of ripped off. What ended up coming out to the table was drastically different from the photos shown in the Chinese and English menus and the the cashier tried charging us an extra 20,000 won for beer we didn't order. Not a very good experience altogether.
I will acknowledge that we were trying to have a budget friendly dinner, but I guess with seafood, you get what you pay for. If you do try this place, you should probably go with their recommendations- like their 150,000 won+ sets and specialty sashimi like sea cucumber or abalone.
