2014: My Year on gogobot

A guide to my personal 2014 adventures

Dew Tour

Amazing time to be in Ocean City. This is world class sporting event right on the beach with loads of entertainment and fun for all. The skateboarding is mind-blowing.

Boondock Saint

Small, but friendly little Irish pub directly across the street from Pat O'Brien's. Popular with a local crowd, I like Boondock's because it has all the cozy charm of a traditional pub, yet is open to the street, making it a great spot to have a pint while people-watching or even interacting with...

Acme Oyster House

A New Orleans icon that lives up to it's reputation. Absolutely incredible food. There is usually a line out the door, but it is well worth the wait. I'm generally a fan of raw ones, but the grilled oysters here are not to be missed. Heaven on a plate....

Oceana Grill

Delicious and beautiful, what more could you want? Just off Bourbon Street in the French Quarter, Oceana Grill offers an excellent selection of local Cajun seafood and more. Fun atmosphere and amazing food.

Central Grocery

The muffuletta is one thing you must eat in New Orleans. That is, if you can eat it all. It is massive, but oh so delicious. A French Quarter original for sure.

Ocean City Marlin Club

Fantastic private club. This is the place to grab a beer and some excellently prepared seafood while talking about the catch of the day. Love the people and the place!

Bourbon Street

Always fun.

Frenchmen St

Where the real jazz happens in New Orleans. A lot of tourists seem to think that the clubs along Bourbon Street are representative of the musical history of this town, but they're missing the real deal at just a stone throw's away. Lots of character, tons of history, a pulsing mess of authentic jazz....

Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop

My favorite New Orleans watering hole, bar none. Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop is the oldest continuously operating bar in the United States (ie. they didn't bother to close for prohibition) and is a favorite haunt amongst locals and ghosts alike. Named for and possibly linked to the famed pirate Jean...

The Angler Restaurant and Marina

One of the best renovations I've seen. This is the place to be in OC for beautiful sunsets. Superstorm Sandy ended up doing the Angler a favor by destroying it's docks and piers. The Bunting family not only rebuilt, they upgraded, expanded and improved the place like it's never been seen before. Fun...
