I should give this place an extra star just because of the staff. It's run by two guys named Jose and Dominic, who live on the first floor and go out of their way to help you. Though this place isn't necessarily fancy or even updated, it feels like a comfortable, charming old house on a quiet, tree-lined street. There are only five guest rooms, so you definitely get a more personalized experience here than you would even at other "guest house" hotels in Boston. If you want the full B&B experience, you have to request one of the guest rooms on the third floor, because the second floor rooms do not include breakfast. The rooms on the third floor are also slightly more charming, with exposed brick walls and hardwood floors. Overall, it's a very cute place to spend a few nights.Recommended for:

Say B&B and I tend to imagine country cottages and ocean-side estates, but the folks at 82 Chandler have shown me that you can also get the full B&B experience in the city! I'm sort of a sucker for old buildings with "character," so the building and location alone were enough to satisfy me personally, but I should also acknowledge how friendly and personable Jose was. Just make sure you pick one of the rooms that actually come with breakfast (not all do). One more note of caution: The entire place revolves around a winding central stairway, so it's probably not a wise choice for anyone with limited mobility.

“Is this a hostel?” “No it’s a bed and breakfast”, replied Jose, the friendly staff member on site. Quickly I learned that 82 Chandler St. doesn’t have to be on a farm or in the middle-of-nowhere to qualify as a bed and breakfast. Instead, 82 Chandler is in the middle of the South End, a wonderful neighborhood that is a short walk away from Downtown Boston. Their apartment style rooms made quite an impression on me. The bed was spacious and big enough to roll around in (Keep in mind I’m 6’4”), the quirkiness of the sink outside of the bathroom, and to my delight, a kitchen was quietly hidden behind shutter doors that I had mistaken as a closet. For a B&B stay in the city, 82 Chandler St. is the place to go.Recommended for:
