How is April for visiting Disneyland?
Trip Plan Details
- Ayres Hotel Anaheim2550 East Katella Avenue, Anaheim, CArecommended Ayres Hotel AnaheimI went to Disneyland with my brother for my birthday on Memorial Day weekend and thought I'd never find a cheap, yet decent hotel where we could crash after a day of fun. Thankfully, I was wrong! I ... read morefound the Ayres Hotel and was able to get an amazing special, $93 including taxes for one room with two queens, free wireless internet, free parking, and free hot breakfast. Andrew at reception was super friendly and asked us where we wanted our room (Want to see Disneyland's fireworks? Want a quiet room? Something on the first floor?). His birthday was a few days earlier and he had also gone to Disneyland and had some good tips. The room itself was perfect. Clean, spacious and the beds were amazing! My brother is tall (6'3") and has a bad back and he said it was the most comfortable he had been in a while. The only thing that got him up in the morning was the hot breakfast...made-to-order pancakes, eggs, bacon and hash browns along with several cold items (yogurt, muffins, bagels, etc.). The hotel is about 2 miles from Disneyland, but it was worth the drive to have a quiet place that was clean and didn't feel touristy. I will definitely be staying at this hotel in the future and I recommend it to anyone who wants a lovely get-away in the heart of Anaheim.Recommended for:Rachel E.
I agree that some parts of April will be super busy due to different spring and Easter break schedules, but it can be done. I went in May one year during a crazy Memorial Day weekend. What my brother and I did, was get to the park as soon as it opened and go, go, go until about 4PM. We stayed at this hotel, crashed for a bit, ate dinner and then headed back to Disneyland until the park closed.
- Disney's California Adventure1600 S Disneyland Drive, Anaheim, CA 92802-2317recommended Disney's California AdventureLet me say it right up front: I'm not a fan of Disneyland. I like theme parks that are made for speed, like Magic Mountain or Knott's Berry Farm. Disneyland's classic rides just aren't that thrilling. ... read moreBut I liked Disney's California Adventure (DCA) because it combined some hair-raising rides with some real California flavor (Disneyfied first, of course). There are also fewer crowds at DCA than at Disneyland. Cars Land, opening later this year, is a fun Route 66-themed part of the park, which has also had its entryway redone to look like a yesteryear LA streetscape.Recommended for:Family TravelersSara Benson
April is great time to visit Disneyland & DCA, because it's not too hot yet. But I'd suggest the later part of April 2012, so you'll miss the biggest spring break crowds around Easter.

All year round Disneyland is busy but you may have a higher traffic due to Spring Break for people and kids are off school.
- Blue Bayou1313 South Harbor Boulevard, Anaheim, CArecommended Blue BayouWhat a fun restaurant. Head to this restaurant located within the Pirates of the Caribbean early and place a reservation. Service is friendly, the ambience is undeniably romantic and the dinner rolls are warm. The star here is the Monte Cristo, a sizzled ham sandwich served with a side of sweet jam.Recommended for:Keane
Perfect! Not quite summer, so the crowds won't be in full force. Definitely try this restaurant if you can! Reservations are required in advance.
