You can spend hours on the stretch of Abbot Kinney between Venice Blvd and Main St. I wrote a blog entry about where to shop/eat a while back. Abbot Kinney is most lively every first Friday of the month, when stores and art galleries stay open till 10pm for First Fridays.

In any other city but LA, this charming strip of shops (Gant, Alternative Apparel), boutiques (Me. Steves Beauty Cottage, Aesop), and galleries (G2, Hamilton Press) would be THE STRIP, and celebrated as such. But in LA, the shopping cup truly spilleth over, and Abboy Kinney somehow manages to sneak by as one of the lesser sung hotspots in town. Skip the pomp and attitude of Beverly Hills and head straight to Venice instead!

A few minutes from the Venice Canals, this is a hip street with unique stores and restaurants. Only a few minutes from Venice Beach. We love the upscale, creative and delicious "salads" from Lemonade at the corner of Abbot Kinney and Venice Blvd. They also make amazingly delicious stews….

When you come to Venice Beach, there is the boardwalk - touristy, crowded, filled with shops slinging junk. And then there is Abbot Kinney - a few blocks filled with high end clothing boutiques, hipster bars and high end restaurants catering to a bit more upscale crowd. Its not on the beach, and the people watching is not quite as good, but if you want to go where the locals go, head inland a few blocks.

I don't know if this makes me a hipster but I love Abbot Kinney. The little boutiques, the coffee shops, the vintage vibe of some of the places....

perfect for shopping and dinning. Shop for men, women, babies and your home. All modern and hip fashions. This area is targeting those who are fashion forward and willing to invest some money to look and live an aspirational lifestyle.

One of my favorite places to be. Day or night, there's always something to do down here. Great eateries (Gjelina, Zinque, Lemonade), good coffe (Intellegentsia) and last but not least, shopping. Don't feel weird for people watching - you only watch because *they're* weird.

Non-touristy and full of offbeat local flavor, Abbot Kinney Blvd is just about my favorite street to amble in LA, especially to get away from the chain shops, restaurants and crowds in Santa Monica. AK Blvd is lined with independent boutique shops, art galleries, coffee bars, interesting eateries and lots of funky-beautiful people watching to boot. Parking is tight, but there are a few public pay lots if you can't find on-street parking for free in the residential side streets.

Abbot Kinney is a really cool strip near Venice Beach that's less Hollywood glitz and glamour and more hipster cool. The look of the whole area is really neat which is why I had some engagement shots taken here.

Cool hip shopping and food - like Greenwich village by the sea...
Try Hals Bar and Grill or Primotivo's for good wine and tapas.

This is probably a must see since it's so close to your cottage. Literally walking distance; but drive if you're in heels. So much to do- great Yoga studios, galleries, cafes, restaurants, bars, boutiques etc etc. You could make this a whole day- several hours for sure.

A high end street for shopping in Venice. Take La Cienega or Fairfax south to Venice Blvd., make a right turn and go west toward the ocean. You will intersect Abbot Kinney. And you can park on Venice because parking is very difficult. A lovely area to walk around. Try Lemonade Restaurant. It's casual. And my hair stylist, Marylle, has her shop there, The Harlot. And she is outstanding. But she herself is not cheap. But the shop is also open on Sundays.

Abbot Kinney Blvd. is pretty much the opposite of the boardwalk. It's very trendy with lots of cool shops and restaurants to check out. This is the kind of street where it's best to just take a leisurely walk and explore on your own.

would feel lost without Abbot Kinney in my life.. I don't know why! lol
Driving by the street makes me feel more calmer. :)

I love Abbot Kinney. Although the parking sucks, I love all the mom and pops boutique stores in this neighborhood. They are each unique and have the most authentic stuff. The restaurants is one of the reason this street is so popular. Here's where you'll find me at some of my favorite hang out spots on Abbot Kinney.
    The Panini Garden for brunch.
Joe's Restaurant for brunch and dinner. Lilly's for brunch. Lemonade for healthy food, The tasting room and Via Vento for romantic fine dinning.
Jin Pastarrie for great breakfast and brunch.
Abbot's Pizza for one of the best pizza spot in LA.
    and, Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea.
On your late nights, we stop over at The Other room to have a few drinks and meet up our buds around the hood, head down to Abbot's pizza for a late night bite.
And the Nite Spa, for late hours pamper me treatments.
Trust me, you'll won't regret the places I mentioned above.

On the first Friday of the month, they have a night filled with food trucks on the road. No need to go pay an entrance fee at those Food Truck festivals, get them all here on Friday night! Love the crowd here. Lots of lay back people just enjoying themselves. I need to make my rounds at least once every two weeks to feel good! :)

My friend, Joa, took me to her favorite place in LA which happens to be Abbot Kinney Blvd. There are a row of eclectic shops, restaurants, and sights that you will not encounter elsewhere in LA. They are all locally sourced and that's the beauty of a street like this. You're never going to find anything else like it. Come and really enjoy the hidden gems that reside on Abbot Kinney.

It's definitely got a fun vibe but honestly there's still just not a whole lot to it...a few very expensive places to get some coffee or some food, a few boutique stores...worth walking around but I'm not sure what the big fuss is.
