Townshend's is a teahouse and is unique in coffee-obsessed Portland. Tea connoisseurs will appreciate the options which abound at Townshend's. They even serve bubble tea, but I would avoid it. I asked for red bean bubble tea and it resembled tapioca filled with pepto bismol.

Rivaling both Crystal ballroom and the Roseland in size, Wonder ballroom is hands down the best large venue in Portland. Unlike the Roseland and the Crystal, the Wonder ballroom does not focus exclusively on mainstream acts. Instead, what you’ll find here is more indie and experimental bands that are much harder to see live. Every show will be one to ...

You can't be in Portland ten minutes without noticing all the beautiful body art. If being there inspires you to get inked, you musts go to Grizzley Tattoo. The owner, Tyler, has been a well-admired artist for decades. The vibe is comforting and creative.

Good place to try some local brews and eat some good food. I recommend the mussel frites. The service was great here. I hope to return to try other entrees. Everything on the menu sounded so tasty.

A close friend of mine threw a birthday party at Mimosa. Let me just say it is the cutest pottery studio that I've ever been to. The space is small and compact but filled with art supplies and pots that are waiting to be designed.

Alberta Street Public House is a music venue. You can tell the small concert venue used to be a place for worship due to the aisle seats. It's perfect for a low-key indie folk band interested in performing n front of a small audience.

Lovely atmosphere to enjoy some Oregon wines and some small bites to eat as well. Their pork belly dish is shown in the picture. Cheeses, truffle chips. and citrus marinated olives are also a few things I've tried, though I believe the menu often changes up a bit. Outdoor seating available when the weather is nice. Staff is very informative ...

Whenever I come to Portland, 4 words that I will always hear (among many) are Coffee, Pastries, Beer, and Sustainable. And sometimes on the same block or within the first few minutes of conversation. My son and I were walking along NE Alberta after breakfast and I wandered by The One Stop Sustainability Shop. My son didn't share my shopping ...

Queen Bee Creations has a somewhat small, but comfortable and nicely appointed show room, and from the street, you can see their folks making the bags through the window. The person at the counter was super friendly and I ended up with a nice Maximo wallet to keep change and paperwork for our honeymoon trip to Portugal next week. There ...

Aztec Willie is one of the main places to go salsa dancing in Portland. The dance floor is large enough to accommodate a substantial amount of swinging hipped dancers. The music is a mix of reggaeton, salsa, merengue, and bachata. They also offer salsa lessons too.

Truly a City of Books! Powell's in downtown Portland takes up an entire city block plus a second building! There are several rooms each with various sections. Make sure to make it all the way up to the Pearl room on the top floor to check out the rare book collection.

From the square you are at the center of the city, the heart of the downtown. Big beautiful open space at the center of where the two sets of Max light rail trains meet. This open space is popular for performances and often at the center of city festivities!

Classic, traditional style looking book store. When I first entered I really liked the feel of the place. I could see that it went back for quite a ways but I was shocked how big the store was and how comprehensive and diverse their collection. I was even more surprised to find out that there is an even bigger location ...

Love the waterfront park in Portland! In the summer everyone comes out for the festivals in the park along the waterfront. Sometimes the lines can be long but overall Portland is not terribly crowded for a city. In fact the park is sometimes even better when there are no festivals on and you can enjoy the waterfront in peace and ...

Hands down the best farmer's market I've ever seen! All natural, high quality vendors most with samples! The market has very high standards and only accepts a few new stands out of approximately one thousand applicants each year. The most incredible variety of meats, cheeses and produce. Also, prepared foods, deserts, jams, sauces, soups and so much more. Great selection ...
