This is definitely one of the most distinct hotels that I’ve been to. First off, it has an awesome bar called the Berkshire Room, which has a fantastic layout. It really captures your attention as you walk in and the space swallows you up. At the bar, you can get customized drinks by merely telling the bartender what type of spirit you prefer and what kind of flavor you enjoy—they’ll create a drink for you on the spot.
As far as the hotel, it’s boutique through and through. The front desk has a chain link fence near it. The elevators are decorated with vinyl-record covers. The rooms make Acme Hotel feel like exactly the type of place where touring rockers would stay. Bathroom mirrors are adorned with a red-lipstick kiss, and quirky, modern touches are found throughout. Great spot.

**FUN HOTEL IN THE MIDDLE OF EVERYTHING**
Centrally situated in the River North section of town, two short blocks west of Michigan Avenue and across the street from DWR.
Upscale neighborhood, filled with new restaurants and bars.
Fun, playful, and trendy.
130-room property, has an artsy vibe: a blue neon "vacancy" sign from the front window and elevators are lined with album covers.
bright orange chairs, and
industrial-pipe light fixtures.
White flying pigs on shelves, and
a chalkboard on the door (to signal housekeeping).
Had corner room with no view (paid $129 a night for 5 nights) and it was a bit cramped and dark, but ideal for vacation stays where you're most likely NOT going to spend a lot of time inside your hotel room.
- Wireless Zeppelin audio systems
- Free reliable Wi-Fi
- 46-inch LED TVs
Clean and basic, with a white tile, glass partitioned shower and granite counters. The vanity mirror featured a big red lipstick that is actually a working night light (had to close the bathroom door because it is bright).
Toiletries are by California-based company called Lather.
Wi-Fi is included (thank you).
If you call or book directly with the hotel online, breakfast is included for $9. They "knock and drop" off your breakfast at your door.
Love their branded coffee thermos.
The Berkshire Room, also within the building, is here. Great cocktails lounge (see separate review).
There's a fitness center and a hot tub, but who has time for that.
Let's go eating.
Affordable, well-located hotel with a cheeky rock 'n' roll appeal gets solid ratings everywhere.
