I love hostels, especially the nice ones. I stayed here prior to moving to San Francisco when I needed to be in the city early in the morning for a race, and the trains weren't running. I had the best time here exploring the hostel and made a few international friends along the way. Highly recommended for those on a budget who are looking for a hostel in SF.
The location is awesome-- just a couple of blocks off Union Square, hidden in a little alleyway, but still completely safe and not sketchy in the least.
Amenities-- the shared bathrooms are clean, the dorm rooms are clean, about 6 or 8 people per dorm rooms, they have female only rooms. Kitchen downstairs that you can use. Computers with free internet access. It's a social hostel but also quiet at the same time.
The staff are really friendly and helpful as well. I had a lot of fun playing tourist for a couple of days here!

One of my favorite hostels in San Francisco. There are a number of different room options at different price points, ranging from private rooms to large dorms. It's in kind of a cool location, down this alley of its own. Union Square is nearby and there's easy access to the Bart station, so it's not too hard to get here from the airport.
My only complaints are that the wifi isn't always great and the showers seem to get boiling hot.
