The Hotel Adler Cavalieri is a cozy, friendly place to stay. It's a good hotel. The decor features a lot of dark wood and heavy fabrics -- there is a kind of masculine hunter's lodge feeling to it. The service is good: friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, not over the top but I did love the ceiling decoration -- a giant painted ovular shape with borders and designs. I loved the marble tiles in the bathroom. I enjoyed relaxing in the various lounge spaces, but especially the leather couches -- cushy and cozy. The breakfast room is delightfully formal and the breakfast itself was plentiful. I thought the outdoor garden patio was nice until I was positively floored by the rooftop terrace. There is an outdoor section with comfy furniture looking onto a relaxing fountain. Indoors there is a restaurant with lots of windows. Further in, there's the bar, which is lively and fun in the evening. Even if you don't wind up staying here, swing by for a drink upstairs!Recommended for:

This hotel is slightly outside of the bustle of town and closer to a train station than lots of other Florence hotel options. (There’s also a parking garage for 22 Euros a night, which isn’t exactly cheap, but parking is a ridiculous undertaking in this city.) The rooms are pretty average – dark and quiet with no real views to speak of – but the common spaces make up the difference. There’s a really nice sitting room with richly colored plush furniture and a fireplace; a library; a cute outdoor patio with wrought-iron furniture (where they serve breakfast during the summer); a nice indoor breakfast room; a bar with both indoor and outdoor seating; and a chill rooftop terrace with a pond and places to sit and relax. Basically, there are lots of places you could hang out instead of your room, all with tons of windows and a warm, homey feeling that reminds me of visiting my grandfather’s house.
