    Carnivore

Langata Road, Near Wilson Airport, PO Box 56685, City Square 00200, Nairobi, Kenyan Regions, Kenya
    4.5
    16 reviews

I remember hearing about this place at a dinner party years ago and thinking it sounding interesting though I'm not big on game meats. Now while I would never consider ever eating Lion or the like...after seeing Gazelles, Zebra's etc getting eaten by Lions I figured trying some would be OK. For the most part though I thought the place ...

    The Passing Show Restaurant

Malawi Road, Malindi Area, Stone Town, Zanzibar, Tanzania

    2 reviews

Every time I am in Zanzibar, this is my first stop after dropping off my luggage at the hotel. I usually find myself there for lunch every day I'm in Stone Town. They serve tasty, authentic local fare and fresh juices. I highly recommend a plate of beef biryani along with a glass of tamarind juice. Their house-made chili sauce ...

Excellent Japanese restaurant right off of the beach. The interior is cozy. If you can try to get one of the seats at one of the hibachi grills and watch your chef cook your food in front of you.

All I can say is WOW! The food is great, the location is great, the price is great! We had a three course meal, a bottle of wine, a bottle of water, and cocktails for less than £60 for both of us! Wish I could go back every week!

    Cafe Clock

7 Derb El Magana, Talaa Kebira, Fez Medina, Morocco
    4.5
    6 reviews

Lovely, lovely little cafe, very much geared to travelers but also nicely rooted locally. The food is great--a mix of Moroccan-style street snacks and more creative cafe food (there's a camel burger!). The place goes up and up and up (eesh, the poor waitstaff), and there are even seats on the roof. I ate here a couple times and liked ...

Superb food, lovely atmosphere and impeccable service. The menu combines traditional Moroccan dishes with more European tastes. It was highly recommended to us by the owner of the Riad where we stayed.

Four Sisters Restaurants, Ethiopian cuisine haven

Behind the public library (200m from the exit of Fasil's Castle)
    5
    1 review

Four Sisters restaurant in Gondar is one of the best. Ethiopian food is popular worldwide; Injera is the country’s staple; made from indigenous crop cereal, ‘Teff’. It’s a spongy flatbread. Alone, the texture is akin to a foam mattress. But its topped with 7-8 stewed spiced lentils ‘wat’, as a large circular sharing platter. Sit around, tuck in with your ...

    Dar Hatim

    1 review

This family restaurant is so, so sweet--it is literally in their living room, and the mom is upstairs in the kitchen. At first glance, it doesn't look promising--it's got that same overfurnished, too-big-room-and-too-short-a-menu kind of vibe that lots of bad Moroccan restaurants have. But the food is pure home-cooked goodness. We ordered bistilla (the flaky chicken pie) and couscous, and ...

The food is delicious, the meat tender, the njera fresh, and the service friendly and knowledgeable. The prices are pretty standard, and we suggest you get one of the suggested platters, which cost around 850 KSh pp. The coffee was perfectly made and presented. The staff truly are delightful.

Le Compotoir Darna is an absolute must when you are traveling to Marrakesh. It is located just outside main medina of Marrakesh. The place is absolutely beautiful inside and the food is delicious as well. Once you walk in you know you are in a special place. It's extraordinary how pretty it is decorated. At 10:30 every evening, they do ...

    Sqala Cafe Le Maure

    4.5
    2 reviews

I wish I'd gone back and eaten dinner here, after my truly fantabulous lunch. This was possibly the best meal I had on that trip to Morocco, and made my whole Casablanca stay very worthwhile. Unlike most Moroccan menus, which have the same five items, Sqala offers all kinds of fascinating dishes you don't see outside of people's homes, and ...

Often billed as the best restaurant in the area, eating here is just a great experience. The food is gourmet and innovative, the services is great, and the you can either sit inside with stained glass lighting, outside woven between the trees, or next to a open fire. Le Petit Beur

    1 review

I read about this restaurant in my LP guidebook, and almost didn't go because the description mentioned the waiters singing along with the oud player, which made it sound like a cheesy tourist trap. So glad I went--this was some of the best food I had in a month in Morocco. I had a special of a lamb tagine with ...

Amazing freshly cooked pasta, on maybe the most extensive Italian menu in town. Conveniently located right in downtown Nairobi. They also serve seafood, and have a large wine list. Not cheap though. They take online reservations.

    Tatu

The Fairmount Norfolk, Harry Thuku Rd, Central Business District
    4
    1 review

Located at the Fairmount Hotel, the prices here make it a place that cannot be visited too often. However, the food is delicious and the service is excellent. In a city where everything is expensive, and sometimes good, this place leaves you feeling like you paid for a high quality meal. The fish and steak are both recommended.
