One of my favorite vacation spots. Great food, yoga, and relaxation on the beach. Off of the electrical grid, this place is powered by wind turbines and solar generators. This is the way Mexico was back in the day before the bottomless margaritas and all inclusive resorts.

Mexico is so handy for quick getaways. This is a nice little neighborhood about 45 mins south of Cancun. Dolphin exhibit, restaurants, golf and beaches....it has it all. Enjoy!

Playa del Carmen is a more relaxed, refined alternative to the spring break vibe of Cancun. Only a 45-minute drive from the Cancun Airport, Playa del Carmen offers a myriad of accommodations, from the luxury resorts dotting highway 307 to pensiones and backpacker hostels in town. There is a distinctive European feel, especially along Avenida 5, the pedestrian-only promenade, where ...

Puerto Morelos is kinda like what the Big Island is to hawaii. It is touristy enough to draw visitors, but it remains small and quaint enough that it has not become a spring break destination. The town is entertaining at night and the beaches are great 24 hours a day.

For my money, the best easily accessible ruins in the Yucatan (OK, maybe Uxmal is cooler, if you can get there before the tour buses). What's nice about Coba is that it's spread out over a wide area, which means it rarely feels very crowded and--even better!--you can rent a bike at the entrance to get around. Plus, it's also ...

An easy day trip from Playa is Sian Ka'an, with its Biosphere Reserve which is a massive swath of pristine forest and wetland, home to monkeys, crocodiles, manatees, dolphins, and dozens of species of fresh and salt-water fish species. The Reserve is considered one of the world’s top fly fishing destinations, and most visitors here are anglers. But Sian Ka’an ...

Small Mayan fishing community at the end of the Boca Paila Rd. Head to the beach from 307 at Tulum and turn right for an adventure you will never forget! Great food, fresh? You know it, langostina y pesca caught moments before being served to you on the beach. Fabulous tours available for sight seeing or fishing all run thru ...
