    St. George Spirits

    2601 Monarch Street, Alameda, CA
    4.5
    6 reviews

Anyone who knows anything about booze knows that St. George Spirits is one of the best places to visit to learn about spirits. They are most famously the makers of Hangar One vodka, available in a number of amazing flavors. They also create other premium liquors such as Breaking & Entering Bourbon, two kinds of gin, rum and a really ...

    USS Hornet Museum

    USS Hornet, Alameda, CA

    11 reviews

With this being Memorial Day, what better review to write. This floating museum is often over-looked by most visitors to the Bay Area (and locals alike). An amazing piece of American history just minutes from downtown Oakland.

    Pacific Pinball Museum

    1510 Webster Street, Alameda, CA
    4.5
    6 reviews

Finally! After years of anticipation made it over here. What a blast. I actually had more fun playing the vintage pinball games, although some of the newer ones were fun to watch and play for their clever trick ballfields. So good to see people of all ages enjoying the games. I will be back for sure!

Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach

    Alameda, California, United States
    4
    4 reviews

This is an ok beach, but it's one of the better ones in the east bay. The water is warmer than one would expect, often not requiring a wetsuit. A good tidal flow keeps the water clean enough, and the sand is really nice. It can get a little windy, which is great for kiteboarding, windsurfing, and small boat sailing. ...

There are so many vendors to search through and potentially find your next antique addition to your home. I love learning the history of the items and how they can be put to a new use.

    Fruitvale BART Station

Fruitvale BART Station, Oakland, CA 94601, USA
    3.5
    3 reviews

I honestly can't remember much about this station other than it's business. It was my first time going through Oakland and yes, there was a little culture shock but I never felt worried. If you haven't seen the movie Fruitvale Station, you MUST! The movie follows the true story of Oscar Grant, a 22-year-old Bay Area resident who sadly had ...

Gayle and I took my son and one of his friends to see a movie. I suggested that we see it at the Alameda Theatre as this recently restored Art Deco show place was bookmarked, and I knew that my son would appreciate a trip back to his old school neighbourhood. In fact, he was so happy to be back ...

Toys and Toys everywhere, to the ceiling and in all directions sideways! This is a great toy store, that can easily give Mr. Mopps in Berkeley a run for its money. Ballena Isle Marina

    1150 Ballena Boulevard, Alameda, CA

This is a nice marina. There are a lot of marinas on alameda island, but this one is located on the south side of the island, making it immediately available to the bay. Unlike the marinas in the oakland estuary, this means you are can sail freely immediately upon clearing the breakwater, which is pretty nice. There are not too ...

The closest thing that I have seen to this place are the indoor sports complexes that you see in many Canadian cities. My son went to a birthday party here and I was impressed with the indoor playing fields, the exercise equipment, the climbing wall, and the friendly staff among other things. Lots of parking too. I agree with one ...

    Aquatech Swim School - Alameda

I really like Alameda, so I am predisposed to liking the ASSA. Parking is free and plentiful, and it is located right next to Alameda college, essentially the very first exit after you pass through the Webster tunnel. My kid has only been attending there for a couple of weeks, but he seems to be learning how to swim, which ...

I happened to be in Alameda, as my son needed to be picked up from school. We had a little time to kill, so we decided to stop into the Alameda Marketplace on Park Street. He was interested in malted milk balls and I figured on a scone for my next breakfast. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, ...

I went to Mills for four years and it was my home away from home. I really loved everything about this school from the community to the atmosphere and even the horrible hill I had to walk up to to get to my apartments. It's beautiful and has a great history that really made me feel a part of a ...

This is a distillery on the old naval base in Alameda. They do a tasting of their local vodkas and other spirits and if you come on a Sunday they do tours of the distilling facilities. Not only is this a fun place to go tasting, but they also have one of the best views of the San Francisco skyline ...

Including a turn over the Golden Gate Bridge. If you've got the stomach for it, and don't fear them as giant lethal whirlybirds, this is apparently very good.
