The more casual eatery owned by Alan Wong, it can be found in the Ala Moana Shopping Center connected to Macy's department store on the third/top level of the parking garage. Food for me here has been hit or miss. Menu is mid-priced fine dining, or about $20 per person for lunch. The fish entrees have never failed me and I really enjoyed the fresh, Pan-Asian flavors. On the other hand, I had the famous Loco Moco and the tastes fell short of my expectations. Perhaps Alan Wong's take on the classic, comforting loco moco dish was too fancy and left out the "homemade from my kitchen" taste. What I do like about Alan Wong is his commitment to serving farm fresh food using local, produced somewhere in Hawaii, ingredients. Kudos for keeping small farmers prosperous.

For anyone who wants to try some dishes inspired by local chef Alan Wong, this is the most cost-effective place. While it's not as fancy as his signature restaurant, it's much more convenient, casual and affordable. I actually preferred my visit to The Pineapple Room over my visit to his fine dining locale.
Many of the dishes here are fancy versions of local comfort foods. This can be a hit or miss for some people. I had the Loco Moco, made with fresh island ingredients like eggs and beef from the North Shore, and served over pineapple fried rice. It was absolutely delicious, though that should come as no surprise with Loco Moco. We also had the Korean short ribs and they were cooked well with excellent flavor.
Service was friendly and attentive. They did an excellent job of making us feel comfortable. Conveniently, the restaurant was not too full when we came for lunch.
Since this restaurant is located within the Macy's in Ala Moana Center, parking is a breeze. If you care to dine even more casually, you can order food and drinks at the bar.Recommended for:Foodies

This was location 1 of 4 on our DishCrawl Honolulu adventure and what a way to kick off the event. The strawberry lemon drink was very refreshing (wish I could have had a refill!). Their take on 'bacon and eggs' was amazing; the pork belly was wonderful. I was sure to savor every bit of this sampler, which I believe is to be a part of their upcoming Valentine's Day set menu. An especially nice touch was to have the master chef come out to greet us; all of the staff were friendly and pleasant. I will certainly keep this place in mind for a special meal.

We were served quickly and efficiently. The event had not been prepared to serve vegetarian dishes, but they were able to make a suitable plate. It does have a surprisingly large seating capacity. I was also told that the alcoholic beverages were more expensive than expected.

Alan Wong's sister restaurant located at Macy's Ala Moana. It offers a variety of Chef Wong's Pacific Regional recipes that's affordable. The chef and staff were great, the food was innovation and deliciously presented. The strawberry lemonade was sweet and fresh. Yum!
