Anchorage is nice enough, and there are good bike and running paths. The mosquitos can be killer though.

Although I'm still exploring the Inside Passage, I love Sitka, Juneau and Gustavus. Can't wait to explore Petersburg, Haines and Wrangell.

Fairbanks was the start of my cruise-tour package. The land portion started here and went south by coach and train to Anchorage. While here, I spent time running along the highway, taking the Riverboat Discovery Cruise, and walking through the park along the Chena. There's plenty more to do around here if you are the outdoors sort of person. Most ...

Mount Alyeska gets inundated by about 650 inches of snow annually, so it was surely only a matter of time (1960, to be precise) before the first ski lift came up in this historic town at its base. Wind-chapped skiers now indulge in winter warmers like the Hot Oatmeal Cookie (cinnamon schnapps, Buttershots, and hot chocolate) at Sitzmark Bar & ...

Ketchikan is a great little Alaskan town. The people here are very friendly, welcoming, and inviting. It's pretty easy to walk anywhere you need to go.

Absolutely Beautiful. I have never seen a National park that was this amazing! When you see the brown bears and all the moose that are 30 feet from you, you will wonder if any of it is real. Everything imitates the look of a painting and feels of a fun house. For example, the Tundra feels as a sponge or ...

This community of about 346 people feels a bit like Mayberry (if you ever watched the old Andy Griffith show). Neighbors know each other and innkeepers help each other out. If Janie of the Bear Track Inn hears from a traveler that her rates may not fit a person's budget, she'll recommend B&B's such as the one where I stayed, ...

Our only reason for being here was because it was a short stop on our Alaska cruise. Do you remember the television show "Northern Exposure"? Well, Haines could have provided the setting for that show. They say one can sometimes see moose walking across the street of this tiny town. We liked it merely for the experience of being in ...

Skagway is a stop on Alaska Inside Passage cruises. It is fun to walk around the town to take a step back in time. There are at least 100 buildings remaining from the Gold Rush era.

It's a truck stop. There is fuel, food, a small hotel, and the visitor center for the Gates of the Arctic NP (across the street). That's it. Since all the food is trucked in don't expect too much.
