Check this place out on the last Thursday of the month all through out the summer! They have an evening street fair that goes on for block after block of fun and creativity with incredible variety! There are crafts and clothes, psychics and crystals, teas and juices. Walking down the street you can eat your way around the world everything from Alaskan Reindeer dogs to Argentinian empanadas to the first (and famous) Korean Mexican fusion food! And of course sweets like shaved ice, vegan chocolates and Voodoo Doughnuts! Not to mention all the street performances including dramatic performances like a full production of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, break dancing and musicians of all ages. Both entertaining and delicious, so much fun!

Alberta Street's Art Walk is the opposite of the Pearl District's in almost every way, including the fact that it's the last (not first) Thursday of the month. Where the Pearl District is all about high-end art and design and upscale clientele, Alberta's embraces its namesake neighborhood's D.I.Y. spirit, funky attitude, and counter-culture character. It has grown to be almost 20 blocks of open stores and galleries, artists and musicians in the street, impromptu dance parties, and spontaneous performance art - almost a street party as much as it is an art walk.

The recently gentrified Alberta Street is one of the most popular places in town to shop, eat, and people-watch. It's at its liveliest on the last Thursday of every summer month, when the lively "Last Thursday" street fair is held. Local artisans looking to make a buck line both sides of the street with their arts and crafts, and buskers come out en masse to sing for their supper.

Alberta Street contains lots of cute boutiques, restaurants advertisement their use of organic products or vegan products, and coffee shops, making it representative of what people think of when they think of Portland (or "Portlandia" for those in the know). Be sure to check out the Alberta Street Fair - it's free and adds a major carnival-type atmosphere in Portland.
