    Alexandra is New Zealands most inland township. It has a very dry climate and the area is classified as desert. The discovery of gold brought people to this barren area. The area is one of New Zealands biggest stone fruit growing areas. It is also home to some of the countries best fine wool producers.
    Alexandra is a popular summer holiday destination. During the winter which are very cold for NZ you can do ice skating on man made dams, and curling.
    Alexandra is a good place to stop for a rest when driving from Dunedin to Queenstown.
