The Algiers Ferry goes back and forth between the East and West Bank of New Orleans. The ferry ride is free and each wait before departure is no more than 15 minutes. The ferry ride is fairly short and simple but offers a lovely view of downtown New Orleans. Highly recommended.

Take the ferry for the views, hangout on the other side for the history, the eats, and the local haunts. You'll find a great vibe on the West Bank. And the ride is free. What's not to love? Bring your bike and enjoy a slow ride around town and along the levee. Grab a beer at the pub. Take the historic walking tour around the point (again, it's free! - just download it to your phone!). A really great way to spend any day. You might just come back and do it all again. Try to take the ferry back after dark for the lights...pretty. nice.

Used the ferry from Algiers to go almost everywhere! Glad we found out about it because it definitely saves a lot of money. I recommend it! The ferry takes you to the area around the river walk and the aquarium and its really convenient.
