Ideal location, near San Marco and all surrounding attractions. The All'Angelo has a cool Art Deco vibe, and is in the heart of Venice. Rooms are spacious, good for families, but the decor could use a little sprucing up. The All'Angelo Bar and Restaurant (with a different owner) downstairs is excellent for typical Italian food. There is WiFi but only in the lobby area, but there is ample room to sit and read email. Continental Breakfast is included.Recommended for:

Though it shares an owner with Dona Palace across the street, this hotel has a very different feel. It’s bigger, starting with the giant reception area, and it feels much more formal than Dona. The rooms are a bit more understated than Dona’s, though both the modern and Venetian-style rooms have similar elements to the ones in the sister hotel. Overall, though, I prefer Dona. The one truly awesome thing this hotel has, though, is HK, the modern-style bar adjacent to its lobby. The bar is painted all grey, tables are all dark wood, and the chairs are mis-matched velvet-covered antiques that, when placed in this context, feel very contemporary and chic. Also, the bar gets wi-fi (but the rooms don’t). Another bonus, for those arriving by water taxi, is that Angelo has its own private little dock. Personally, though, I just like to sit out there and watch the gondolas go by.Recommended for:

The best thing about this hotel is its stellar location. There are canals everywhere, including right alongside the hotel where you can sit on a small deck right on the water. There’s also a relaxed, modern wine bar on the ground floor of the hotel, with more than 80 wines on the menu (as well as cocktails, beer, and some food). During my stay, I spent more than half my time in that bar, sipping wine and watching the gondoliers float by in the afternoon. I can’t say the hotel itself blew my mind with style or grace, but every part of it was professionally maintained and more than comfortable. I did find an odd, disquieted satisfaction in the aqua blue leather headboard, that was merely one representation of Venice’s modern take on classic style.
