The hotel is very European with minimal furnishings inside the rooms. However, they do an excellent job of making the most of the space and furniture they do have. I was weary the rooms were going to be uncomfortable at first glance, but after getting used to the rooms they’re really quite functional and comfortable. Their goal is that you would spend your time out and about in the gym, at the pool or in the lobby area where they have sports scores scrolling across the wall, multiple flat screen TVs, a bar and snack area, and a pool table. As well, there’s a sport’s bar attached to the hotel, along with a new Whole Foods down the street and a multitude of shopping and dinning opportunities as soon as you step outside. For the price, this place is incredible. There is a lot of new construction going on around the building.Recommended for:

Large spacious rooms, plenty of space to work or set up a laptop, but also just a fun vacation spot. The pool (which is shallow) is open very late which is nice for relaxing. There is a large lobby with plenty of seating to have small meetings or to work. The entire hotel is stylized in a contemporary fashion and comes together very well.Recommended for:

Aloft gives me that hyper-clean modern feel -- like the sparkling water will be extra sparkly and the pillows will always feel cool. The staff gave off a relaxed, yet attentive, vibe. They've got a little 3-foot-deep party pool off the lobby and bar area to cool down in and catch some sun. The bar is open from 4:30-midnight and they have appetizers and bar snacks, although there's plenty of nice dining within a block or two. The room I saw was pretty small, but it had a big, cooshy bed, a fridge, safe and modern feel. The fitness center is well stocked with free weights, elliptical machines, treadmills and workout balls. I dig it.Recommended for:

aloft Austin is a relatively recent addition to the Domain shopping district and the interiors look like some sort of hip, albeit overly caffeinated, college student's dream dorm. There are chic guestrooms, plus lively communal spaces, like the Refuel snack bar next to the front desk that is open 24/7 for either hot meals, sugar indulgences or quick to-go meals and the lively wxyz bar which usually features a daily happy hour and a live DJ (and large crowds) on weekends. The location is an obvious attraction for shopping trips with friends or family at the Domain's popular upscale shops and boutiques or business travelers who can take advantage of all the fine and casual eateries within walking distance.Recommended for:

Located in the Domain, a newly built shopping center in the Northwest area of Austin, the Aloft is recommended for the business type. Walking into the lobby is like walking into a small city of its own. On one end is a small mini-bar opened from 4pm-midnight, in the center are tables, comfortable couches, and small terminals for business services, and on the other end is a miniature grocery store providing snacks and breakfast to go. The lobby and the rooms offer free WI-FI. The rooms are very modern with high ceilings and are colored with dark blues, greens, and reds. But, their firm white beds stand out giving a vibrant look to the room. Each room is provided with toiletries, a hairdryer, and an in-room safe. The hotel also has a heated pool and fitness area for those wanting some exercise.Recommended for:
