Downtown Brooklyn is so happening right now, and if you stay at aloft's Brooklyn branch, you'll understand why. The moment I entered the hotel, I was impressed by how hip yet understated it was. At first, the neon-colored décor feels a bit tacky, but then you see the pool table at one end of the lobby, the w xyz bar at another end, and the food pantry on the other side—and you get the feeling that people like spending time in this hotel. The rooms are very spacious, especially for this price range ($200+). One of the best perks of this hotel is its pool, which it shares with the Marriott hotel next door. That, and the Brooklyn Terrace, a rooftop bar with amazing views of Downtown Brooklyn and Manhattan. With a subway stop just three blocks away, you can get to Manhattan easily and quickly—but with all the perks at this hotel, you might find yourself staying put in the Better Borough (yes, I am a biased Brooklynite).

From the moment you walk into aloft, you can tell that this hotel is a fun place to be! The pool table, sofas, and pod chairs in the lobby certainly give off a modern and young vibe, and the snack station as well as the bar make the lobby a place you may not need to leave-- lest you head up to the rooftop bar! Rooms are surprisingly spacious, because that's possible in Brooklyn, and a definite perk for those who aren't used to the crowded accommodations and high prices of Manhattan. Upper level guest rooms have a great view of the neighborhood! Close to the subway as well as several other Brooklyn attractions and eateries, aloft in Brooklyn is a fantastic alternative to, and probably much better than, a hotel in the middle of the city!

This is another hip and cool boutique hotel in Brooklyn. While its sister hotel, the Marriott, may cater to a crowd used to the standard and quieter hotel environment, this hotel is all about having fun. I felt like I entered a party world when I looked around the lobby area and immediately saw the pool table and bar where there is sometimes live music at nights.
If you need a quick bite before heading out you can stop by the lobby and pick up a few items like fruit, muffins or a soda that can be billed to your room. I also loved the outdoor space they have that have lounges where you can sunbathe. There's even a rooftop bar.
It might end up being a bit of a party at this hotel so if you don't mind a potentially hearing neighbor because of the thin walls, this is a great hotel to enjoy the city life.Recommended for:Trendsters

A fantastic room for the price. The location gives great access to Manhattan and the rest of Brooklyn. The biggest drawback is that the surrounding neighborhood doesn't have as many places to eat or shop.
The hotel has several dining and drink options: the w xyz(SM) bar, located in the lobby; re:fuel by Aloft(SM), a snack bar and 24/7 pantry in the lobby; and re:mix(SM) lounge. The Brooklyn Terrace at Aloft Downtown Brooklyn, a rooftop bar that the hotel shares with the neighboring Marriott property, offers cocktails and small bites as well as stunning 360-degree views of downtown Brooklyn and Manhattan. Complimentary wired and wireless Internet access is available throughout the building. Other amenities include a complimentary 24/7 fitness center and pool, an open-air terrace, a recreational lounge with a pool table and 24/7 food pantry, and the arf(SM) pet program, which provides a dog bed, bowl, treats and toys for guests with pets.
Rooms are spacious and bright, with nine-foot ceilings and extra-large windows. Each room contains a luxe platform bed, a 42-inch LCD flatscreen TV, an ergonomic workspace, and a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower. Bath amenities are specially created for Aloft Hotels by Bliss® Spa. Complimentary magazines as well as bottled water and coffee and tea are provided in-room. Other amenities include individual climate control, customizable wake-up calls, an iron/ironing board and complimentary wired and wireless Internet access.
