Part of the Starwood hotel chain, Aloft is a "vision of W Hotels," so you can think of them as the W's little sister. The decor is hip and trendy with contemporary furniture. There's a cool lounge to hang out in after grabbing a drink from their w xyz bar, even if you're a local not staying at the hotel.
Since its located near SFO, there's not the convenience of being right in the city. Guests staying here should definitely consider renting a car if you want to explore the bay area. This is a great option for businesspeople in town for work on the peninsula. The hotel offer guests free wifi, free limited airport shuttle, gym and an indoor pool.Recommended for:

Wow. My first time at an Aloft Hotel. It was amazing. Its the younger cousin of the W Hotel - modern, hip, great rooms. Comfortable beds. A surprisingly cool bar area given the proximity with a pool table. They have a good sized fitness center and a pool. Best option near SFO by far.Recommended for:

You can count on the Aloft to make you feel at home anywhere you stay. I've stayed at others including Phoenix, Portland, and others. the staff is always welcoming. The hotel has almost everything you need. You don't even need to leave. There is a small market, a kitchen, and hip bars at each one. I like to think of the Aloft as a comfy home away from home.Recommended for:

Such a modern twist to a hotel, it's almost ridiculous! And I mean that with the utmost sincerity. The lobby alone gave a great first impression. Got to take a short tour of the hotel and checked out their heated pool, outside patio with fireplace, and even got to see one of the rooms. It really has the look and feel of a loft. Far from the "average" hotel.Recommended for:

With true W Hotel charm, Aloft San Francisco Airport provides those who need to stay near SFO International Airport with a chic and stylish option. The bar area and lounge are lovely, and there's a patio outside for enjoying the sun. The staff here are really friendly as well.Recommended for:

Aloft hotels are a hip new hotel chain, part of the larger Starwood Hotel chain that includes Sheraton, Westin, W Hotels, Sheraton Four Points, The Luxury Collection, and others.
Starwood actually has 2 brands of hip hotels that are almost exactly alike in design, the Aloft brand affiliated with W Hotels, and the Element brand, the offspring of Westin Hotels. But the affiliation to their respective parent brands doesn't mean much. They all add points to your SPG (Starwood Preferred Guest) frequent guest perks account.
They both have open airy lobbies with casual dining and no restaurant per se, but a snack and short order like food kitchen on one end of the lobby, and a hip bar/lounge on the other end. In between is a lot of modern furniture in bright colors for meeting up, working, or chilling. There is also a pool table in the lobby, and a glass wall toward the pool.
The rooms are like a studio Bachelors pad in a modern Japanese designed hallway, with contemporary Scandinavian modern room decor. You walk into your own room alcove, to one side is the sink, closet cubby hole with a curtain, and the bathroom. This wall serves like a backdrop when you walk into the other side into the bedroom, which has a large bed, large TV, and small desk.
The different and clever design reminds you of being in a modern Scandinavian or Euro design hotel, not a traditional Courtyards or other comparable chain designed with US esthetics.
This Aloft is pretty new, and close to SFO airport, It is at the sight of the old Clarion hotel, which was around for decades and completely gutted and remodeled. It is just on the East side of US 101, so you could go to the west side a couple of blocks and take BART into the city if you are stuck here, or take CalTrain down to San Jose and Silicon Valley.
They are running specials, so look for 2 nights 3rd free on weekends, or 2 nights 40% off, or a 20% AAA discount, on weekends (Thu-Sun). Otherwise, you will pay about $179 and up a night, with free wifi. There is also complimentary Airport Shuttle and free parking.Recommended for:

This hotel has a very hip and modern feel. The hotel is nicely located close to SFO and has easy access to the freeway. I was recently for a Gogobot event. I was able to check out their lobby and bar area and they also has staff members available to lead tours around the hotel. All the staff was nice and helpful.Recommended for:

A Whole New Hipster World!
This hotel experience was AMAZING! I’ve traveled to many countries and stayed at some pretty swanky hotels, (including a pretty cool one near an airport in Chile), but honestly none of them compare to this one, and it’s so conveniently located near SFO! They have a shuttle that runs 4AM-Midnight 7 days a week.
When I entered the lobby, I instantly thought I had walked into the future or something; it’s literally that hip. Your eyes relish the sheer beauty of the décor, and your mind appreciates the organization of the open floor layout. In this fast-paced, busy and stressful world, it’s absolutely refreshing.
Then you are greeted by the friendliest and most laid back staff! They’re very courteous with helping you get checked in, and even go as far as to explain the layout of the aforementioned “mega” lobby—there’s a lot to do here!
When I got to my room I was even more impressed—the arrangement/decor is so modish and contemporary! It’s obviously designed to make you feel as though you are living in your own private spot, and thus it’s not as much of a room as it is a mini apartment. The design team for Aloft really efficiently used space with the planning. Loved that I could roll down the blinds to completely shut out all the light, although the view outside the window was very nice.
Really appreciated the relaxing element, and just when I thought the experience couldn’t get any more hip or smart, I looked at the magazine rack in the bathroom and found two of my favorite magazines sitting right there: Wired and Dwell!
Unfortunately I didn’t get to utilize the workout room like I wanted to, but I was super impressed: it’s a very nice facility. Same goes with the pool, and there’s even a pretty big outdoor space that gives you that feeling of a private chic backyard.
You gotta check this place out! I’m now giving Aloft Hotel SFO the nickname “Hipster Haven”. It’s what’s happening right NOW. And at under $200 a night, it really is worth the price! BANG FOR YOUR BUCK.Recommended for:

Totally hip and unexpected! Now there's finally a cool place to hangout if you're stuck at the airport. I love the funky and modern decor. Thanks to Connie for throwing the Gogobot event here or else I would have never known about the place! I can't wait to go on the hotel tour and check out the rooms here!Recommended for:

I'm a big fan of the Aloft Hotel at PDX and so much so that I'll gladly commute to Downtown on the TriMet when I visit the Rose City. I love the Lobby area, the WXYZ Lounge, the stylish rooms, a great shower, and the comfy bed. The only thing missing is a complimentary breakfast.
I visited the Lobby area of the SFO Aloft recently as part of a very nice Gogobot Event. Mr. Chang's Wife certainly hasn't lost her party planning touch! This version is roomier than their PDX doppelganger, and throws off the same hip, yet relaxed vibe. This is quite a change from this Building's former life as a tired Clarian Hotel.
Aloft staff on both sides of the Bar were friendly and welcoming, the snacks were yummy, and the Jazz band playing in the background contributed to a most pleasant experience. I can only hope that there will be some good excuse to actually stay here some day.
