The Altis Hotel is a lovely mixture of the old and the new. While the building is very modern, with sleek lines and a state-of-the-art spa center, the designers of this establishment worked very hard to incorporate some the history of Portugal (especially the Age of Discovery) into the hotel’s overall motif. Different rooms and different floors have themes based on former Portuguese colonies (Macau, Mozambique, Angola, Brazil etc.). The regionally inspired artwork in the rooms helps complete the aesthetic and set the ‘historical’ mood. The hotel has a picturesque rooftop pool, with sweeping views across the Tejo River, as well as a large aqua area in the spa and sauna space, which is located in the basement. The rooms are very open and bright, and many afford great vistas of the river and the marina. You can catch some sun on the various sundecks spread around the hotel, or by simply walking outside, along the riverside promenade. The Altis Hotel does a wonderful job of making its guests feel right at home. If you stay here, you’ll be treated to some extremely contemporary designs, with a taste of the long and rich history of Lisbon and Portugal.

Fantastic hotel, staff, location, amenities and spa. While this is outside the "city center" if you are looking for a relaxing and luxurious stay this is the place to stay in Lisboa. Reminded me of The Standard in NYC but with a Spa not a Nightclub and river views instead of the highline. Two pools, one on the roof and an amazing spa pool in the basement. Several excellent dining options including room service AND a Michelin Star Resto (Feitoria). Great location to explore the Belem area of Lisbon on foot with is many museums, historic landmarks, views of the 25th of April Bridge (the Golden Gate 'cousin') and easy access to public transport downtown. Top 10 hotels I've stayed at Globally. Highly recommended for any type of stay (well maybe not budget, its not cheap by Lisbon standards but I reckons its great value for your dollar).Recommended for:Luxury Travelers
