I passed by this place on so many occasion and tonight was finally the night that I gave this place a shot. We ordered:
- carrot cupcake = delicious cream cheese frosting and moist .
- red velvet cupcake = not so moist, had better else where.
- lemon cupcake = not moist and the frosting was suppose to be lemon, but it tasted like clay.
- chocolate snowball = covered in coconut dry meat and super sweet chocolate cake inside.
Overall, it was a disappointment for me. However, American Cupcake decor is alluring and enticing. Also, their service was friendly and welcoming.

American cupcakes rock! Famous for their cupcakes and red velvet fried chicken, the ultimate question is how do they go together? Sweet goes with sweet!!! Crispy and sweet flavors! After passing by American Cupcake a few times, I've always been fascinated with how their cupcakes tasted. Coupled with the red velvet fried chicken, I was looking forward to a dynamic taste combination, in the line of chicken and waffles. The red batter was dry, compared to the more moist KFC and asian-style fried chicken, but it went well with the meat. And, as to the important question of how cupcakes taste as a pairing, they didn't disappoint. Once you've eaten the sweet fried chicken, the cupcakes go well as a compliment. Also, throw in some candied apple ribs and an Oreo Milkshake, and you get a meal that is high in calories and sugar, but sure to satisfy your sweet tooth!!! Great service, but beware of long waits if there are parties inside the restaurant. But feel free to indulge yourself on their delicious cupcakes at any time: sea salt, mocha, and the worms in dirt cupcakes are the winners here. As for the fried chicken, the red color is such an eye-catcher, but eat it and also enjoy it to its fullest sugary sweetness!

My two favorite foods are: 1) fried chicken and 2) cupcakes (specifically red velvet). So you can imagine how I was overcome with joy when I found out that American Cupcake added "Red Velvet Fried Chicken" onto their menu. A crazy sounding combination to some, but the perfect union to me!
I had never been to AC before, but when I went in and realized that it had a cupcakes & cocktails concept going on, I wondered why I hadn't before. You don't know how many times I wished there was some place like that around, and it already existed! While I was tempted to sit down in their all white futuristic diner with a cupcake and glass of bubbly, it was only noon and I don't like drinking alone.
But on to the Red Velvet Fried Chicken! The $13 dish comes with three pieces of chicken, and true to the cupcake, a side of cream cheese infused garlic mashed potatoes. It also comes with a side of cole slaw. The chicken is soaked in their red velvet cake batter, so naturally, it has a deep red coloring and a very slight tinge of sweetness in the flavor. I really enjoyed it - the meat was super juicy and tender, and the skin was perfectly crisp. The mash was a wonderful compliment, as was the slaw. Yes, it was exactly how I had imagined my two favorite foods merged together would be.
As for their cupcakes (which I ordered two of) - I've definitely had better. The cake was not that moist, but the frosting was yummy. And I like that they have fun carnival flavors like cotton candy, pixy stix and bubblegum. But AC still gets 4 stars from me, for making my food fantasy come true!

Eat mediocre, even late! The cupcakes here aren't fantastic, but they're open late. This disco-cakery serves up late-night snacks (often half-off after a certain time) for the drunk and hungry masses. Not bad at all, just not spectacular. I'd go back if I were in the area, but not worth a trip across the city for.

A disco looking cupcake bakery that's open late! We occasionally grab cupcakes here whenever in the Marina. It's nothing particularly amazing however you can get half priced cupcakes after 11 pm.
They also offer an interesting red velvet fried chicken, which I've personally never tried however really want to. So the best time to stop by is after 11 PM, otherwise I'd probably skip it.
