This is my hometown. I grew up here and feel blessed to have done so. It's a GREAT town with many colleges and entertainment and the arts are big in the area! It's a great place to raise a family and was a great place to grow up. I was there for almost 30 years before moving but will always consider it home. It is amazing in the fall when all the leaves change into magnificent colors! Winter is long but can be very beautiful! GREAT PLACE~!

I'm pretty biased having grown up here, but I love that Amherst has so much to offer, yet maintains its small town feel. With just 30,000 permanent residents, the town doubles in size during the academic year with UMass, Hampshire, and Amherst college students all wisely making this their second home. Given the plethora of young, liberal scholars, Amherst has no shortage of funky cafes, creative restaurants, or performance art, all with farms and forests just a mile or so away. Especially when combined with neighboring Northampton, the area is a great place for a long weekend. Or to raise kids. I turned out okay.
