Beautiful, quiet spa resort overlooking the Himalayas. The food here is healthy and delicious and they even have dosha balancing Ayurvedic options. There's also a slew of daily activities, including yoga classes, fitness classes, lectures on the Vedas (Indian scriptures), and music classes. The front desk and a few special rooms are located inside the main palace complex, where there's also a small library/business center filled with a beautiful collection of old books.Recommended for:

I was so blown away by the experience that I am compelled to share. I have travelled to spas and luxury hotels around the world and have never experienced such an amazing place. The food is divine and reasonably priced. The yoga was good, the turndown service personalized and the staff amazing (something very difficult to find in India). They surprised and delighted us at every turn from creating customized meals, holding an impromptu personal yoga session and giving us personalized history lessons. The real surprise were the Vedanta lectures, which were thought provoking and enlightening.
Having been here, I do not want to ever holiday anywhere else. I want to come back here time and time again - and I say this after an excrutiating 8 hour drive from Delhi yesterday. The only downside I could possibly think of is that the scenery is not quite as spectacular as that in Ladakh (where we arrived from last week).Recommended for:

My visit to Ananda was memorable in every way. The location is supreme, the therapies and treatments experienced were truly rejuvenating. I also had the chance to participate in an 'Aarti' ceremony near the Ganges river and trek high up into the Himalayas past small villages to a sacred temple. The dining experience was incredible and the staff at Ananda really go out of their way to spoil you. This is an experience not to be missed!
