Hi Andy- It's best to fly into Ninoy Aquino International Airport (airport code MNL). Pre-paid "coupon" taxis are available outside Arrivals, but I'd bypass them in favour of the yellow meter taxi rank nearby. Insist on using the meter -- the trip to Makati should cost 250-300 pesos and take anywhere from 20 min (no traffic) to an hour or so (likely in rush hour). As for luxury hotels in Manila, I've only personally stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in Makati, which wouldn't be my first choice. Makati is the area of the city that I'd stay in, but I'd look into the Shangri-la Makati, about which I've heard nothing but good things. Good luck!
