Angola was not what I expected. It's a beautiful country and appears to be developing rapidly. Unfortunately, obtaining a tourist visa seems nigh on impossible. We were only able to get a 5 day transit visa- barely enough time to cross the country let alone sightsee. I'd love to go back someday once the borders open up a bit more. It looks like it has a lot to explore.

This southwest African country’s tourist board tells you to come to Angola; and you should if you’re interested in seeing spectacular beaches, breathtaking and untouched natural beauty, or witnessing the rebirth of a nation. Advanced planning is essential. The country’s infrastructure is in its infancy and obtaining a visa, while far from impossible, can be a time consuming mission. If idea of Angola sets off mysterious warning bells in the back of your mind, it is probably because the former Portuguese colony was the site of a decades-long civil war that claimed millions of lives and isolated the country rich in natural resources. That tragic conflict has been left to the history books and the rapidly developing country is slowly assimilating into the world community.
