Angra Dos Reis is a lovely stretch of islands and ocean waters. It is a 2 - 2.5 hour car ride from Rio. Tour companies provide ample opportunity to go island hopping and swimming.

Must do: eat a Moqueca de Camarão at Coqueiro Verde Restaurant. It is located at the Saco do Céu Cove.

Angra dos Reis is a beautiful place located between Rio de Janeiro and Santos. It has one of the best sea foods that I've ever eaten served just out of the boats.
If you are into scuba diving, Angra is the place to go. There are a lot of different marine life and great cave diving as well.

Description

Angra dos Reis is a large town in southern Brazil. The town is best known for its port, which is active economically and also serves as a gateway to the over three hundred islands that sit just off the coast. Each island is a beach paradise, and while many are privately owned, others are open to the public. The most prominent of these is Ilha Grande, with its deserted beaches and lush hikes ... read more
serving as major tourist draws. Angra dos Reis is a popular destination for weekenders from Rio looking for a little more peace but no less beach.
