If you've read the book, it's a completely different experience to actually walk through the secret annex. Lots of videos interviewing people who helped or friends of the Franks. Really powerful experience.Recommended for:Local Culture

A must for every visitor. An essential part of the Amsterdam history. from this city a 100.000 jews are transported to the Nazi concentration camps in germany, Austria and Poland. The book is beauty. The house is an impressive way to your children waht happened in this city during the war.
The Ann Frank house is only 5 minute walk from our apartment.

I highly recommend anyone that is going to Amsterdam to go enjoy taking a walk through history at the Anne Frank House. Completely worth every euro.
It was like a total body experience you take through Anne Frank's life.
If you choose any sort of historical museum, this is the one to beat!

I went on a rainy Thursday and it was the perfect day to go. I'd read her diary long ago. I thought I knew what to expect when I actually saw it. I didn't. Just recalling the sight of it, three weeks now, makes me shiver... That said, the "huis" is a must.

If you have not read "The Diary of Anne Frank", try to do so before visiting this wonderful museum. Touring the Anne Frank House will bring the book to life and will probably bring a tear to your eye. This is definitely worth a visit as part of any trip to Amsterdam.

Hands down one of the most famous and moving places within the city. You get to tour the living quarters of the famous Anne Frank and her family during their hiding throughout the Nazi occupation during WWII. This chilling and sad representation of the horrors of the Nazi regime leaves an impression on your heart. Highly recommend visiting if you are in the city. I advise to go online and buy tickets in advance because the line can get pretty long. But if you don't want to buy tickets in advance, try to arrive early in the morning, close to when the museum opens to avoid waiting in line.Recommended for:Family Travelers

Like many others, I read Diary of Anne Frank and visited her house many years ago, and at around the same time. That experience left a lasting impression and so much so that any Anne Frank play (including Berkeley Rep's recent production of Compulsion) will find me in the seats. In many ways, this cultural force is a tribute to the vision of Otto Frank, a grieving father who transformed his loss. And of course it's the message that I'll never tire of hearing:
"It's really a wonder that I haven't dropped all my ideals, because they seem so absurd and impossible to carry out. Yet I keep them, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart."
