Antone's was Stevie Ray Vaughn's second home. The man now has a bronze statue of himself down on the shores of Town Lake wailing on his guitar into perpetuity. Antone's births legends. And if they're still living and gonna play a show in Austin, Antone's is it. I'll never forget witnessing Roky Erikson of 'Thirteen Floor Elevators fame (basically the guys who invented psychedelic music back in the 60's) singin' 'Starry Eyes' there on his annual birthday party at Antone's. Talk about starry eyes! And If you're gonna be in Austin next week (4/20/2011), The Psychedelic Furs, although they ain't really psychedelic, are playing there at Antone's so check out if you're in town.

Austin's live music mecca. Has hosted blues lengends like BB. King, Muddy Waters, .... Antone's was the starting point for the career of Steve Ray Vaughn and Bob Schneider (and many others that I don't know about). My personal favourite is the Scabs, a funky groovy rock&roll band that's hands down the best live music I have ever heard/seen.

One of Austin's most popular live band venues. This place has housed many incredible bands over the years and was one of Austin's first nightclubs. Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Vaughan, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Los Lonely Boys, Ian Moore, and Bob Schneider all got their start here. It's prime location makes it easy to head to other bars after a show.

Not that I'm biased or anything... but all kidding aside, Antone's has been a legendary blues club in downtown Austin since 1975. Its founder, Clifford Antone, also founded a record label and was a mentor to Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Vaughan, Charlie Sexton and numerous other musicians. He also opened a record store specializing in blues and roots music, Antone's Record Shop, at 2928 Guadalupe St. on the western edge of the UT campus.
