The bar is located on a back street in China town. The store front is a pharmacy (hence the name "Apotheke") but the inside is urban chic.
Although a little past its prime in terms of the crowd, this is still one of my favorite bars. The cocktails are good and the speakeasy feel continues to inspire a sense of discovery.
This is definitely a cocktail bar. I've never seen anyone drink beer or wine and I am pretty sure neither is served.

A speakeasy hidden in Chinatown. The crowd tends to be older but the drinks are great. Service is a little snooty and there aren't a lot of place to sit. If you happen to be in the area it is they only place to check out but dont make it a destination in itself!

Awesome tiny bar with great music and super cool concoctions served by guys in pharmacist outfits. It's hard to find and even harder to get in. If you can get past the door, It's a great time. Just be prepared to pay at least $15 for a drink. The Toma-Teo is highly recommended -- comes with habanero and is delicious.

There is definitely an appeal of opening the doors of a speakeasy tucked away in the heart of Chinatown and discovering mixologists dressed in white lab coats. You will find a wide range of cocktails that should get you feeling quite dapper and delightful. Experience live jazz on select evenings and you will feel like you are shmoozing with the likes of the Fitzgeralds and Hemingway.
