Good value in a decent location, it is right next to the Dubai museum is mostly local shop lack of malls nearby. However the hotel inside is quite nice and do not judge the book by its cover outside. There is no nightclub in this hotel, but the bars were good that offer good steak and wine. The room was roomy and clean. Overall, I enjoy this hotel for the two night that I stay there. The hotel is rated 4 stars but I think is more like 3 ½ class.Recommended for:

This hotel is right across from the history museum and is heavily Arabian themed. Look at the candid pictures of the interior to decide if you think it leans more toward funky or charming to you. I lean toward charming, but I did take note of some of the funky touches and smells. The Arabian theme is carried from the exterior to the decor to the spa. One thing I liked about the spa is that there were showers in a lot of the rooms (probably because treatments like ayurvedic massage involve oil). The pool's little, but this hotel is probably better for visitors interested in visiting old Dubai, the souks and the museum, rather than lounging in luxury. Also, the staff are easy to talk to and not portentous.Recommended for:

This hotel is totally worth to stay as several awards, for the spa and the hotel itself, show in the lobby. The hotel seemed to be in an Indian dominating area. There are a lot of barbers around and some nice souvenir shops, where you can find some gems if you look closely. There is a nice bar called Sherlock Holmes where is live music played by the band Inside Out in the evening. Everything from rooms to the restaurants is great, but the outdoor pool was a bit strange. There was green carpet all over the outdoor area. But to make up for it for only 30 dirhams you can use the indoor yacuzzi. The yacuzzi was in the spa area, so you had a nice atmosphere around, with the scents and flickering lights. Amusingly all the rooms had a flower name, like Rose, Orchid and Yasemin. There was also a couples room, for partner treatments, named Lavender.

We were spending a week in Dubai in April 2010 and chose to stay here based on the hotel website's description as 'Arabian' and we wanted an authentic experience. The hotel was extremely old and certainly authentic -if we were in India. The decor was more Indian than Arabian and the whole hotel had an 'old' smell. The pool area was very small, and the buffet breakfast was average. Although we had paid in advance over the internet for the entire stay, we considered forfeiting the money just to stay somewhere decent, but decided against it. We convinced ourselves we'd spend more time out exploring the city rather than in the room.
Apart from all the negatives of the hotel, the staff were friendly and helpful.
