Fabulous tour! Boat is slow and tour-guide/docent is very knowledgeable. If you enjoy history or architecture, put this on your list of "things to do".

A spectacular way to learn about Chicago architecture (when the weather is good). All of the architectural tours are fantastic but spending time on the water gives you a bit of distance and a chance to really observe. One of my favorite Chicago tourist experiences.

There are several good cruises in Chicago, but this is considered by many to be the best. The 75 - 90 minute cruise provides fantastic views of over 40 significant buildings and includes an excellent live commentary presented by an expert on architecture. What sets this cruise apart from the others is the well-trained, well-informed guides. It is also nice that it doesn't involve any walking.

Highly recommend! Beautiful river boat ride through the city. See buildings that you can't see any other way. Have a Bloody Mary, sit back and listen to the very well informed your guide.

Home of the skyscraper, taking the time to appreciate the city's architecture is a major thing to do when you're in town. There are a lot of boat tours to choose from, but your money is best spent on the slightly more expensive tour run by the Chicago Architecture Foundation. With experienced, knowledgable staff, you'll walk away tons of fun facts and a deeper appreciation of the city.

A great way to look at some great buildings from the river, learn something about architectural styles, learn some Chicago history and get a feel for the city.

It may sound dull, but this cruise is the best way to learn to learn about the architecture and the history of the Chicago while getting a feel for the city at the same time. On a sunny day, grab a cocktail and a seat on the top deck for the 90-minute tour.

Great way to see Chicago while sitting back relaxed. Tour guide well-trained and content is informative.

Alternatively, a walking tour is the active way to see Chicago's architecture.

In all cases, Chicago has great architecture and your enjoyment will be increased by a guide.

Definitely would recommend this to both visitors to and residents of Chicago. It really lets you see the beautiful architecture of Chicago from another angle and gives you some history. Be sure you go with the Chicago Architecture Foundation.

This is an amazing way to explore and see the architecture of Chicago. The tour guides are extremely informative and know the history of the city like the back of their hands. If you're a photographer, I found the best place to sit was at the back of the boat. Also, another tip might be to take an early morning cruise or an evening tour amongst the sunset. Chicago can have some of the best sunsets I've ever seen.

Best tour in the city. It's expensive, but seeing the city by the river is the best way. Docents are extremely knowledgable. A good thing to do on a nice Sunday afternoon with a Bloody Mary in hand. Bar on board! The architecture in Chicago is stunning! Highly recommend.

If you like big beautiful buildings, this is your trip. I always say take a river cruise when in a new city, but this one is particularly beautiful.

What a wonderful way to enjoy the skyline and architecture of the city! I found this to be both a beautiful and informative tour. I especially recommend taking the tour in the evening, as you're able to see the buildings both in broad daylight and at dusk, when the lights come on and the city lights up. Spectacular!

Chicago's skyline may not be as famous as New York's, but it is still plenty impressive, and the river cruise is a great way to appreciate how massive some of the skyscrapers are.

One of the first things I learned about Chicago was that it was big on architecture. Going on the architecture river cruise really helped me to see that and to learn more about Chicago's history. While on the cruise, you get to see the many different downtown buildings and the different styles upclose while you ride up and down the river.

Worth the money you spend to get on this cruise. You learn a lot about the architectural history of Chicago and you will see quite a few cool things like the cantilever building or the one that encompasses a whole zip code!

I don't generally recommend things that are so obviously touristy, but my mother loves architecture so we took this tour for her birthday. It was informative, the tour guides are clever, they serve alcohol (bonus!) and once you get out onto the lake, you get one of the best views of the city. Our skyline is beautiful from all angles, but being on the water with a glass of wine in your hand certainly exposes its true majesty.

It's tough to get a great view of much of Chicago's notable architecture from anywhere besides the river. Also just a nice way to spend an afternoon on the water. The cruises depart close to Millennium Park, which is well worth a visit itself.
