Arequipa is a beautiful historic city, known as the "white city" because of the constructions made out of a while vulcanic stone. It's surrounded by three snowy volcanos, which can be seen from anywhere you are. Weather is always sunny and locals are always wearing beautiful hats - make sure you have yours.

A lot of travelers pass right by Peru's second-largest city. But for anyone who takes the time to get off the bus and explore, you'll find back streets and inviting alleys filled with historical sites, culinary magic happening in little restaurants, a hip nightlife scene, gorgeous inns, and inspiring outdoor excursions to nearby volcanoes and to some of the world's deepest canyons.

Downhill ice mountain "Chachani"
2 hours to reach the top of the mountain by car, 3 to 4 hour descent, very irregular soil, stones in the first part, sand in the second and highway the third. Medium dificulty, I hardly recomend previus experience in downhill or mountainbiking, no matter what the tour operator says, definetely not a ride in the park. Great place for biking!Recommended for

Arequipa aka The White City, is Peru's second city. With amazing buildings & architecture the historic centre is a joy to stroll around. From the magnificent Cathedral to the Santa Catalina Monastery there is lots to see and do. Great food & friendly people & watching the sunset was an added bonus on my visit here.

On the edge of the Altiplano, the southern coastal city of Arequipa is Peru's "Second City" - the second biggest after Lima and the second most popular among tourists after Cusco. The "White City" is also known for its many white stone buildings and the gateway to the nearby Cañon del Colca.

One of the best cities in Peru!. "Plaza de armas" is very nice, "Santa Catalina Monastery" is a must to visit. This was a closed self-contained monastery. The architecture is very colonial and colorful. I really enjoyed almost a day in there.

Called the "White City" because many buildings are built of the white stone called sillar. The city is surrounded by three volcanoes. You can find lots of Spanish colonial architecture there.
