We visited a few resorts in Ari Atoll.
*Holiday Island Resort & Spa in the North Ari Atoll
After searching online about it, we already knew that it was going to be an absolute treat, the tiny air plane scenery on the way to the resort was mind blowing.
Our room was pretty basic with a bed, wardrobe, safe and a TV, but we did enjoy the outdoor shower and it was spacious enough to satisfy our stay. Since the ocean is just 15 feet away from the room, we spent most of our time obviously on the beach and in the sea. There is one problem which we saw some travelers might not like. There were ants coming into the room from the backdoor. But a simple tip to avoid this is to block the space below the door with a towel.
There was one main restaurant and also a small 'cafe'. They could improve on the food variety a bit as there was not much options for vegetarians. However the quality for other dishes were standard and satisfactory.
The resort staff were constantly smiling and friendly.
This is a great place to go on a 4D3N or 5D4N Maldives holiday package. But anything longer, you might find yourself bored with nothing more to do. We loved the beautiful white sands, turquoise clear waters and baby sharks swimming within half a meter of us, what more could anyone ask for?
To have a quick end note with this. The resort gets pretty dark fast, so its best if you have a mini torch light with you. For those that has sensitive feets, get some water shoes as there are some coral deposits which can give you some problems if your not used to walking on edgy surfaces. This resort was value for money at the end of the day and we enjoyed out time while there.
*Veligandu Island Resort in the North Ari Atoll
Now this is a resort which has a beautiful view. From the moment we landed we fell in love with the view Veligandu islaand resort had to offer. We stayed at a luxury beach bungalow where we had the beach right in front of us from the backdoor. The room was spacious and excellent eventhough this resort had the same problem with ants coming into the room when it rains outside. Our first day was pretty much in room most of the time due to heavy rain and high wind. Room service could not get to our room carrying the food, hence once the wind calmed down, we walked towards the restaurant. It was pretty dark, so again we were left without a torch light! The buffet was nice with a few variety of food and it included two options for vegetarians. The next day was when we really had the fun. If your going as a family with kids, we recommend 5D4N or 6D4N as it takes time to enjoy the scenery here.
*Sun Island Resort located in the South Ari Atoll
Spent around a week at Sun Island Resort. There was plenty to do there. The island was big, but just the right size to not get too tired when your taking a sunset view stroll towards the restaurant. Once dinner was done, we went to feed the Rays and the Reef Sharks. One thing that some travelers might not have liked was a few cats roaming around the dining area looking for some left overs. The room boy and staff were nice, however the room boy seem to make it noticeable that they are waiting for a tip. which is not the best impression to end a vacation.
Overall, its a good resort to visit as you wont get bored here if your staying for a long period. But remember you must have a budget because this is the Maldives we are talking about.
