Tentatively exploring the idea of an end-of-year trip to Bali. We have lodging lined up in Seminyak and are looking for unique outdoor adventure and cultural attractions to check out. I'm a very experienced SCUBA diver, so underwater recommendations a plus. Also, interested in hiking, mountains/volcanoes, wildlife, markets, textiles and amazing restaurants. Focus is on south / southwestern part of island. What do you got gogobot?
What are the best restaurants, bars and attractions in and around Canggu, particularly the Echo Beach area? How about yoga in this area? I have a week or so here before exploring other parts of Bali and I'm looking for cool hang outs and great food.

Nonetheless, it's a beautiful place, and positively made for exploring on a motorbike. After the cramped environs of South Bali, it's a literal and metaphorical breath of fresh air.Matthew Crompton
Bali is part of an extremely well-worn tourist track, but Nusa Penida is a little bit off of it. Rent a motorbike and go exploring. Good luck! =)

This would be the point for fast boats across to Lombok, but there's some excellent diving offshore, and good snorkeling at the chilled-out Blue Lagoon Beach.

As a bonus, there's a natural riverside hotsprings that feels great for a soak midway thru the second day.Matthew Crompton
Personally, if you love trekking, I think it's a crime to miss the climb of Mt. Rinjani across the strait on Lombok. It's one of the best short hikes in Asia, and well worth the inconvenience of making the trip across the water.

Do you need a local guide? I know a guy that took us around Bali when I was there with my family this summer.

A bit of a hike from Bali - but well worth it. The drift diving is amazing!
