There are two ways to enjoy this place. You can walk through the redwooods, or drive all the way to the top to get a bird's eye view of these giants.

Armstrong Redwoods is FUN. Beautiful hiking trails meandering through enormous redwood trees. Colonel Armstrong is the oldest tree in the grove estimated to be 1,400 years old!

You can either pay $8 to park within the reserve or park outside and hike in (do the latter only if you're short on time; the hike in is part of the spectacularness of it all). This is a complete redwood forest, with mossy fallen trees, a 1300-year-old giant redwood, and a sunless canopy. It can get a bit crowded on weekends in the summer, but there are some good, extremely challenging trails going up to nine miles out, so you can get away from the crowds.

The only stand of old growth redwoods in Sonoma County - this place is a wonder.
1300 year old trees stretching up to the sky!

Located just a couple miles outside Guerneville. Best option is to park outside the park and walk in - the trail is beautiful and you can avoid the day use fee.

There is a great little nature walk that leaves from the Vistor's Center and takes you past all the main trees and a tree cross-section with a timeline dating back a thousand years!

The oldest tree here is approx. 1400 years old and those redwoods are the tallest living things on the plant earth. Really amazing! You can park the car in the parking lot at the visitor center just outside the park and walk a easy 2-3 miles hike through this wonderful forest and see the biggest and tallest trees.
