Arrowtown is a historic gold mining and quaint town, it is very picturesque especially against the dramatic backdrop of the mountains. It's actually a little town as we have fully explored the town in 20mins. It is definitely aimed at the tourist market as there were bus loads of Asian tourists arriving one after the other. The buildings are very cute and looks like they were built to match a doll's house. Maybe it is much prettier during Autumn or more cosier during winter but it wasn't what I was expecting at all. The best part of visiting Arrowtown is resting and napping along the river during the afternoon whilst waiting for the bus to Queenstown to arrive. Cute town but definitely not the highlight of the day.

Arrowtown has a relaxing charm that draws us to it every now and then. At present the Autumn colours are wonderful, The Autumn festival is on this week. Lots of things to see and do. The Gold mining town has maintained a building code that preserves the old rustic look. We often walk around the streets just looking at the gardens. The river is a very popular walking place for those with dogs, especially in thier hot summer days.
The Museum is definitely worth seeing and the Chinese village is worth a 1/2 an hour stroll.
If you have come to Queenstown, you must see Arrowtown as well.
