When I'm in a new City, I'm often lucky enough to find a local guild place that shows off (and sells) regional arts and crafts. And during my recent visit to Barcelona, I was lucky enough to find Artesania Catalunya. This is an organization that was established to accredit and promote a wide variety of arts and crafts in the region of Catalunya. After all, what is better than handmade products to shape a Country's history, culture, and traditions in a special and skilled way?
The front part of the shop features various handsome items for sale, while the back part is more of a showcase for the work of various artists. I bought a "key chain" that featured ancient letters that were connected to the ring by a pretty knot of silk. I was interested in more, but Gayle had that look in her eye! We also came back on Sunday, but unfortunately they were closed. Artesania Catalunya can be a little challenging to find as it's "buried" within the Barri Gòtic, but it's well worth your time to seek this place out for a piece of local art that will stay with you long after you've returned home.
