I need more stars! What can you say about this place - they say that life on earth started right here. Amazing animals everywhere and the African Veldt stretching to the horizon.

    Olduvai Gorge

I loved it because I have an interest in anthropology and this place is like human evolution's Disneyland. If you don't have the slightest curiosity about Australopithecus, you might not find it that exciting. There is a fantastic but small museum here with lots of fossils and artifacts from the Leakeys. A guide will tell you all about the finds ...

It's hard to describe Snake Park and do it justice. Ma and BJ are the best. The snakes are so cool and I never tire of going back to check them out. The bar really is amazing. It's an eclectic monument to travelers past and preset - the best part being the wall plastered with photos of overland trucks half ...

    Central Market

    Market Street, Arusha, Tanzania

    3 reviews

This busy local market harbors just about anything you might need. The vegetable selection is often quite good but you can also find fabrics, hardwares, and more. One thing you should be wary of are touts, if a "guide" latches onto you, vendors will drive up their prices, as these scoundrels come back to them and demand a commission after ...

This is the place to look for great Tanzanian crafts and tanzanite jewelry. It feels like you're shopping in a museum. The owners are helpful and friendly and can help you to make an informed decision if you're looking to invest in some tanzanite. They'll do custom designed jewelry as well. Even if you're not interested in buying anything, they're ...

If you want a real experience in a Maasai village and not a hokey one designed for tourists, Enjipay is the way to go. I was fortunate enough to meet, Edward, the founder, when I was volunteering in Moshi. He is a very proud Maasai and enjoys sharing his culture with others. If you join him for a visit to ...

    1 review

After doing HOURS of research, I finally decided to book my 3 day 2 night safari with Sunny. I wasn't disappointed. For a budget tour operator, they met my expectations and more. The vehicles they use are older Land Cruisers and the campsites you choose from are rustic; however, the driver we got was funny, accommodating, and jovial, while our ...

    1 review

It's a small little museum but it is quite well done and worth a look. There's interesting exhibits on human evolution and an section on malaria. A stop at the Natural History museum is a good addition to a day if you find yourself shopping or catching up on e-mails in downtown Arusha.
