I did not visit the City Hall until very recently for close-to 20 years I lived in this city. While surrounding area needs some cleaning up to do, architecture and interior is magnificent. The rotunda is beautiful and it is very well maintained. The famous staircase is very popular among those who get married there.

I had the recent pleasure of attending a Gogobot Pro party at Mr. Smiths. Keane L. did an amazing job putting this entire soiree together. Thank You Keane and of course Mr. Smith's! Attendees and a very impressive sampling of desserts were ensconced in the small, but very comfortable upstairs VIP Lounge. Downstairs was the bar, a well attended Happy ...

If there's anything we love here, it's fresh local food. Heart of The City market is on Wed. mornings in the Civic Center and is the biggest, cheapest, and best one.

This place has hosted many large scale events. The last one I attended was a performance by Britney Spears for Good Morning America. Not too many people were let in for the taping, which allowed us to get close to the stage and get in some good photos during the performance. Not the tidiest of venues that I've been to, ...

I avoided coming here for the longest time, thinking it was some sketchy, dirty pee factory for hobos. I'm happy to say I was wrong. (It isn't dirty.) What they say about reading is true. Books are an adventure! And between the crazy preaching socialist and the guy editing hardcore *something* in the study booths, I have to say the ...

San Francisco Pride is THE Pride. SF just does it better in so many ways. While Pride festivals have become very commercialized, the SF festival is still free and very much about love, peace and happiness without being on Haight! The parade is awesome and takes over Market, while the festival expands and spills out into the neighboring areas. If ...

Walking through the Tenderloin seems to be the fastest way for me, not sure why. Why take a cab when you can slowly stroll through drug deals and window shop for absolutely nothing from windows that are barred, taped, papered over, and bricked up? Dipped into the Brown Jug and so happy we did. There was an old pimp breakdancing ...

This is one of the few typical tourist experiences that surpasses expectations. Riding the cable cars up and down the impossibly steep streets with the wind blowing through your hair is something that just can't be replicated. An absolute must do.

Union square was nicely decked out for Chinese New Year. If you've got money to burn, then it's great for retail therapy. I went there because we don't have Uniqlo in Canada

Noisy and lively neighborhood in SF. It's the largest Chinatown outside of Asia, so definitely worth walking through and maybe get something to eat. My Tip: you can get fruits and vegetables a lot cheaper in Chinatown than somewhere else ;)

SF's premiere modern art museum, both the collections here and the cool modern building that houses them are top-notch. Everyone will have a different favorite, but their collection of early modernist painting is particularly fantastic, with great pieces from Rothko, Kahlo and Paul Klee.

This is one of my favorite places to take visiting friends and family because of its unique location and unbelievable cocktail menu. Located inside an old building that was originally a speakeasy, Bourbon and Branch brings a little of the Prohibition-era back to life with its 1920s flair. Yerba Buena Gardens is the name for two blocks of public parks located between Third and Fourth and Mission and Folsom Streets. A pedestrian bridge over Howard Street connects the two blocks, sitting on top of part of the Moscone Center Convention Center. Yerba Buena of course was the name of the town in the Mexican territory of Alta California ...

As malls go, this one is really nice. Has a lot of really good shops, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, Zara, H&M, Banana Republic. Just don't make eye contact with the kiosk workers. They can be really pushy.

The Fillmore, one of the most iconic districts in San Francisco, is as much the legendary center of jazz and rock as it was in it’s prime. Once the playing grounds for smooth psychedelic cats like Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, Carlos Santana and Pink Floyd, it’s now a mix between affluent and hip. And here, the two often converge. North ...
