Located about 45-minutes from Aspen, Basalt is charming little town with a smattering of good restaurants, galleries, and outdoorsy activities liking fishing, boating, and mountain biking. It also has a good variety of lodgings, especially short-term rentals if you're looking for a home away from home.

Crystal isn't much of a town... no real shops, just a few homes and some of them have set up a makeshift restaurant of sorts... seems like they'll cook for you if you show up. The attraction here is just trying to get to the place! This town is not accessible via any paved roads at all... the only way ...

There's not much in Alma, literally a bar and a couple local necessities but it's pretty close to Breckenridge over a pass. We looked into getting a vacation home here for the winter but there is basically no internet in the area sadly, which we need for work. Pretty area but drive on to Fairplay.

I love this town. You can actually take the train from Denver to Glenwood. Stay at the lodge and soak in the hot springs. Olay mini-golf or take a gondola ride and check out the views. Don't forget to visit Hanging Lakes for an awesome short hike.

BV is a great little town. It may feel like a quick stop along Hwy 285, but visit the South end of town for a newer look and vibe. Great restaurants and brew pubs along with some interesting architecture is popping up.

I spent a lot of time here as a kid. It still has this rough and tumble miner charm that is often washed away in the ski resorts nearby. Don't miss a trip to Turquoise Lake, the Fish Hatchery or a steak at Quincy's.

Resolution Bowl is basically heaven on earth! It's the best of the summit county resorts but the least known.

We spent the weekend in Carbondale and the valley. A quaint town with charm and character. Once you get off of Hwy 82 and head towards Main Street the small town feel is evident and appreciated!

Frisco is a great little town in the heart of Summit County. It is centrally located for easy ski access to Breckenridge, Copper Mtn and Keystone. It has some great restaurants and small shops with great gear.
