The Aspen-Snowmass Ski Resort is a worldclass set of mountains--Aspen Mountain/Ajax, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk, and Snowmass--located in a gorgeous part of Colorado. They are spread out over 15-miles and have trails ranging from beginner to expert so there's pretty much something for everyone. Although each mountain seemingly operates independantly, lift tickets cover all four, which is great for a multi-day ski trip. (For ambitious skiiers short on time, there are free shuttles between the resorts--some for skiiers, some just for skis--if you want to try out a couple mountains in one day).
My favorite place in the resort is, hands down, Aspen Highlands. It's popular with locals, with amazing side-country skiing, steeps, and powder. Aspen Mountain/Ajax is a close second--the views are picture-postcard-perfect and it's location in downtown Aspen really can't be beat.

This is my favorite place to ski. We've gone to Snowmass for years, and love it. It's been a little sparse the past few years, probably because people have been worried about the snow quality (it was perfect this past December), and it is definitely very pricey.
