Considering the bargain prices we found online for this condo (around $120/night), I hadn't been expecting much. But the resort was really great, and the best night we spent on our recent trip to Maui. Totally spacious, modern and sparkling clean condos, plus two outdoor swimming pools. The beach right outside isn't where you want to swim in the ocean, but it's great for sunset walks and beautiful swimming beaches in Kapalua are just a short drive north. Excellent staff, too.Recommended for:

The Papakea Resort was another family friendly spot. The “Aloha” shrubbery was a fun addition to the landscape. I enjoyed some of the gardens and close beach access. Rooms were fine as a place to rest, but not much of a hang-out zone. This is Maui after all and nature is the place to be. Perks were yoga classes with a decent instructor, a relaxing hot-tub and a funny little put-put golf course that saw a lot of action. The beach is right there any time you feel like getting crushed by waves or diving down to listen to the whales (You can really hear them!). This is good a launch pad for excursions shopping, playing in the ocean or dining. With the kiddo’s in the pool, you can finally kick back and get a serious vitamin D fix.Recommended for:

The Aston at Papakea Resort is nestled neatly between two resorts, a strip mall and its main attraction, da beach. This "W" shaped, oceanfront, condominium resort utilizes its space well, with grass fields to kick the soccer ball around and separate pool areas so you can escape that annoying family member and sunbathe in peace. With only four levels, you'll definitely find yourself below the palm tree line, which brings flying coconuts into play. Every room, from the studio to the three bedroom suite, comes equipped with a kitchen, which gives guests the option to dine-in. Or if authentic Polynesian cuisine is in order for the evening, might I recommend the Hawaiian from Pizza Hut, only a short walk away.Recommended for:
