The Astor Quest Hostel is covered in artwork by former guests and has a homey, casual feel. Activities like Sunday Roasts and bowling are a central part of community life. I loved the location which is a stone's throw from Hyde Park and on a street of Georgian rowhouses. The staff's photos are displayed at reception so you know just who to ask your questions about what to see and do in the Big Smoke. A solid choice for a London hostel.

I know it's a hostel, but I was really was not very happy with the quality of this one. It was my first place to stay too when I got to London and it was just a big room with one sink. The bathrooms were around the corner and the showers were barely a closet. They had a rec room with TV and kitchen, but overall the quality of this hostel was sub-par. And being in London, it was expensive. A hostel should save you money.
