Atlanta is another great southern city with great history and civil rights. The city has some of the greatest historical sites to visit. Disability Access is available within reason of the different sites. To view the City you will need at least 3 days to get a flavor of what the city has to offer.

Hotlanta—which also made the top 20 for nightclubs and its singles scene— does not clearly pick sides in the BBQ debate, but tends to give classics a Georgia spin. One local favorite is Fat Matt’s Rib Shack, which serves ribs, chopped pork sandwiches, “rum” baked beans, and sweet potato pie, as well as nightly blues music. At Bone Lick BBQ, which started as a pop-up but now has a home in West Midtown, you can try the ménage à trois sampler (spareribs, Texas brisket, sausage) along with starters like fried pickles, boiled peanuts, and flavor-of-the-day pork rinds.

Atlanta is a diverse and sprawling city. It takes a while to learn where everything is, but this city has it all if you know where to look. With the busiest airport, and plenty of attractions and landmarks, Atlanta is a great place to visit as a tourist, as well as a nice place to live.

We are here on a mini vacation and we love it. Every restaurant we've been to has not disappoint. I recommend going to the World of Coca Cola. It's truly an amazing experience to learn about the home of our famous beverage. I also recommend staying in downtown so top attractions are close and can be in walking distance.

I love Atlanta! There is so much to see and do. The nightlife, restaurants, running trails, etc., you will not be bored in Hotlanta! :)

Atlanta is the South with a tinge of the North. Spend an afternoon sprawling in Piedmont Park, strolling Little Five Points, or shopping in the Highlands. Come nightfall, grab a drink in Midtown or a foodie favorite dinner in Buckhead.

I heart Atlanta. Yes, it is spread out, and yes, the traffic is awful, but Atlanta has much to offer. As a lifelong resident, I love the warm hospitality, the diversity, the food scene, the music....and most importantly, I really love the people.

I only visited Atlanta once on a business trip. I met up with a friend from Atlanta while I was down there and got to see some of the city. I was beautiful and I had a great time!

Atlanta is the city hub of the South. Full of things to do with professional sports teams, concerts, bars, clubs, restaurants, ect. Anything that travels through the South travels through Atlanta. As a young city, it continues to grow rapidly and it is often unusual to meet someone who claims to have been born and raised in Atlanta.

A great southern city!! A city of fantastic restaurants, museums, historical sights, a world class aquarium, excellent hotels, universities & colleges, and AmericasMart (a major source for wholesale buying by stores around the world).

As an Atlanta transplant, I am incredibly grateful I got to move here from rural Tennessee. Sure the traffic is a little daunting at first, but there's so many great things to see and do that it's well worth overcoming the intimidating traffic!

Great nightlife. Affordable city living. Everything is like 25 mins from the city as long as your near the perimeter of Atlanta in any direction. Lots of museums and parks and activities for the kids. Malls and shopping centers everywhere for those who love to grab good deals you'll find them everywhere.

I love Atlanta -- it is one of my most favourite cities in the whole world. There are so many things to do there. When I visited I spent most of my time in the area around Emory University -- which is so culturally alive, 7 days a week.

Atlanta is a great southern city, but I never seem to have enough time there since I'm merely passing through. I should stop for more than a day sometime.

One of my least favorite Cities visited. Of course i have not been to very many but the traffic is horrible. The speed limits keep changing every couple miles on the highways. Most places are poorly maintained. Exclusive of important tourist places and the heavily policed areas the city seems a bit dirty. I get the impression that the residents and people of Georgia don't like Tourists. I say this since they don't take a lot of pride in maintaining a high level of quality maintaining a clean and inviting city. I would admit that there are many lovely tourist places great restaurants (best Chinese i had i all of the southern states i found here.) and the historical sites and all the memorable places associated with the slave revolution were great. I visited mainly for this purpose. I was shocked at the number of homeless i saw and how dirty some of the communities looked. I usually like to drive and stop and see the non tourist places when i visit any city so probable that's why i saw a lot of this.

There little not to love about the de facto capital of The New South. From beautiful parks, stellar museums and cutting edge restaurants there is plenty to keep you busy in the ATL.

Description

No other city symbolizes the New South quite like Atlanta. Prosperous and modern, Atlanta blends the traditions of the Old South with American innovation like no other city in the country. While its past urban planning created some of the worst sprawl in the US, a little event called the Olympics kicked off a sea change in 1996. The downtown Centennial Olympic Park typifies the transformation. Within a few square blocks surrounded by glass and steel skyscrapers lie the World of Coca-Cola, Inside CNN Atlanta and the Georgia Aquarium (two words: whale sharks). Walk forward through history from the Civil War to the Civil Rights Movement by visiting the Atlanta History Center's museum complex, the King Birth Home and the MLK Jr. Memorial Center. From downtown galleries to a Grammy award-winning orchestra, Atlanta is quickly becoming known for its impressive arts and performance attractions. Downtown high-rise hotels host everyone from international visitors from Atlanta's CDC (Centers for Disease Control) to tourists looking for proximity to the city's top restaurants. ... read more
