    Park Hyatt Sydney

    Park Hyatt Sydney

    Class:
    4.5
    10 reviews
Excellent! - 93% of guests recommend

I was absolutely blown away by the location of this hotel, holding prime real estate on Dawes Point in the Sydney Harbour, with each room (all have private balconies) looking out over the water and to the Opera House directly opposite. Full of tasteful design touches like aboriginal art paintings and grainy B&W photo blowups of the Harbour Bridge, the ...

I loved the Westin, with its awesome location at One Martin Place, from the moment I first walked into the lobby. Glassed in by a towering high ceiling, the lobby interior encloses a huge square between the newer tower section of the hotel and the lovely heritage sandstone facade next door, with the nifty Mosaic restaurant giving a great view ...

BLUE Sydney - A Taj Hotel

BLUE Sydney - A Taj Hotel

    Class:
    4
    6 reviews
Excellent! - 87% of guests recommend

Probably my favourite hotel in Sydney overall, winning top marks for its awesome location in a rehabbed heritage warehouse on the waterfront, midway between the Royal Botanic Gardens and the leafy heights of Potts Point. While the decor in the rooms is a bit understated for my taste, they ARE certainly posh, comfortable, and well-appointed, with windows that open out ...

    Park Hyatt Melbourne

    Park Hyatt Melbourne

    Class:
    5
    7 reviews
Excellent! - 90% of guests recommend

I stayed here for a conference and loved it. A beautiful hotel the rooms were huge and comfortable and the location was great, easy to walk into the city centre if you want to but far enough away to be quieter and peaceful, and heaps of public transport nearby to take you anywhere you want to go.

    The Darling

    The Darling

    4.5
    3 reviews
Excellent! - 90% of guests recommend

An ultra-modern boutique property, everything about this place is chic and trendy. The staff are young and hip (if sometimes a little fake-eager), and all facets of the decor are custom-made, right down to the "rope room", a lounge area in the luxe house Japanese restaurant decorated in jet-black twists of hanging rope. The Darling gets huge numbers of Asian ...

    Art Series - The Olsen

    Art Series - The Olsen

    Class:
    4.5
    4 reviews
Excellent! - 87% of guests recommend

Forget the city center, Chapel Street is where the true heart and soul of Melbourne reside. Kitschy coffee shops and trendy boutiques are what this part of town is all about, so it's no surprise that The Olsen hotel—one of three in the city's Art Series—is itself a bastion of culture and quirk. The colorful works of renowned Australian artist ...

    Art Series - The Cullen

    Art Series - The Cullen

    Class:
    5
    3 reviews
Excellent! - 89% of guests recommend

The Cullen was my favorite of the three Art Series hotels. It's just as quirky as its eclectically designed brethren, but with a location that I personally feel is unrivaled. The hotel is about 10 minutes by public transport from the center of the city (or 20 if you’re taking the tram rather than the train), but directly across the ...

    The Diamant Boutique Hotel Sydney

    Class:
    4
    5 reviews
Very Good! - 83% of guests recommend

A nice option in Kings Cross for those looking to stay a little bit upscale, the Diamant offers decent value for money, with tasteful modern decor. Some of the rooms are showing a little bit of wear, but it's hard to argue with the location, a very short walk to the Kings Cross train station and to buses all over ...

    The Observatory Hotel

    The Observatory Hotel

    Class:
    4
    3 reviews

Going over-the-top for a feel of classical luxury, the Observatory presents itself ably as a five-star property, from the ultra-ornate lobby (lovely) to the great water views and plush beds in enormous rooms (huge bathrooms too!). The restaurant is a popular place for high tea (recommended), and the pool on the lower level is lovely as well. It's a bit ...

    Grace Hotel Sydney

    Grace Hotel Sydney

    Class:
    4.5
    4 reviews
Fair - 71% of guests recommend

The Grace Hotel lobby seems like something a little out of Mad Men, with a kind of bygone classiness and polish that's immediately appealing. The building is a heritage site and it shows, and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff are immediately noticed and appreciated. The rooms were nice, with little touches of character like coffee-table books and a ...

    Art Series - The Blackman

    Art Series - The Blackman

    4
    2 reviews
Excellent! - 90% of guests recommend

The lobby of the Blackman clearly reveals the hotel’s status as one of the city’s three Art Series hotels (the others being the Cullen and the Olsen). The walls are adorned with a dizzying array of the works of Australian artist Charles Blackman. Beyond the entryway, the hotel proudly displays Blackman’s largely bunny-themed art around every corner of the modern ...

    Medusa Boutique Hotel

Excellent! - 94% of guests recommend

Just down the road from the gay mecca of Oxford Street, and minutes from the bars of Kings Cross, the Medusa Hotel in its 1832 heritage terrace building has a quirky, boutique feel -- notice the antler-shaped chandelier hanging in the foyer. The decor in the rooms is a slick art-deco (think 1950's LA), and little flourishes like the leather ...

I really like this hotel. You can take a complimentary bus that will take you all over. The room was really well appointed with marble and super soft bedding. The staff was very quick and courteous. Though toward the end of my stay I had the oddest conversation with the front attendant. He had asked me whether I was enjoying ...

Beautiful and modern property located right in the middle of all types of action: food, shop, tourist, and non tourist. The rooms are quite spacious and the higher floor ones have fantastic views of the city and if on the right side, the Sydney tower is almost within grasp. The decor is very chic and modern. Clean and comfortable. There ...

Its claim to fame: the oldest continuously licensed pub in Sydney. For those of you who like beer, stumble no further than the Lord Nelson pub and hotel. It’s charming, it’s boutique, it’s so solidly built that if the end of the world came upon us, this place alongside cockroaches, would be the only survivors. Located in the hills of ...

Wow wow what a hotel. Now this is what I call 'fancy pants'. Being part of a Casino this is the flashy kind of 5-star, when compared to the more sedate Grand Hyatt and Langham. This is 5-star all the way. The rooms are impeccable and swish. The service is highly professional. Everything you would expect in a five-star hotel ...

    Crown Casino & Entertainment Complex

The Crown Casino and Hotel is right near the Yarra River in Melbourne, next to the river promenade, with hits shopping and restaurants. This part of Melbourne reminds me a lot of downtown Chicago, with its tall buildings, river, and well organized layout. The casino itself is not quite like the mega-casinos on the Las Vegas strip, but it is ...

This hotel has one of the lushest lobbies I’ve laid my eyes on. Part heritage building, part modern high-rise, the Intercontinental is very large and very busy. There are the usual features including a business centre, wi-fi (at a charge), 24-hour gym and a pool. You can take High Tea in the beautiful, decadent lounge, and the ‘open-air’ ceiling entices ...
