    Sydney Opera House

    152 reviews

The first thing I went to see the first morning after arriving in Oz. I was so jet lagged that I woke up at 4AM and headed down to the harbor to watch the sun rise over Sydney Opera House. One of the world's greatest icons, truly something to see!

    Sydney Harbour Bridge

    97 reviews

There was no way I was climbing the bridge- not to mention it will cost you a pretty penny- supposedly there is a less expensive tour where you can climb the steps to the top of the tower and the views are supposedly just as good.

    Bondi Beach

One of my favorite places during my trip to Australia. Bondi Beach is a lively beach with great surf. The shops and restaurants around it are great, and there's always tons of people having fun.

    Manly Beach

    66 reviews

This is a long stretch of beach that is at the end of the main road leading from the port. It was not that busy when I went, but I can see it being crowded during its busy season. There are a decent number of shops around, so anything small that is needed can probably be procured.

    Darling Harbour & Haymarket

    65 reviews

Darling Harbour is beautiful and has a lot of great restaurants and shopping; however, I felt like a lot of the attractions were unreasonably overpriced simply because of their location in the harbor. I would definitely take the time to walk through this area, but I wouldn't recommend eating or drinking here unless you want to spend a lot of ...

    Taronga Zoo

I have been visiting the Zoo since 1950's and the changes are unbelievable ... it was the place I would take Peta too when we had our weekends out when she was a baby. She had a blow up giraffe called gerry and do you think she would leave the giraffe enclosure ... every time i would turn the pram ...

    Great Ocean Road

    47 reviews

An absolutely stunning stretch of coastline, from Torquay to Warrnambool (Melbourne is the launching pad.) You'll wind your way along rugged coastline, passing secluded beaches, private coves, massive surf breaks, pristine bays, and then inland through temperate rainforests. Stop and ogle at koala-filled eucalyptus groves, see kangaroos hopping along bluffside plains, soak up the sights from the top of the ...

    12 Apostles

    41 reviews

We spent a few days driving the Great Ocean Road on our last trip to Melbourne and stopped here to see the funky limestone formations off the coast of the Port Campbell National Park. As the sea keeps eating away at them, they keep falling into the water, so there's no longer 12. However, that shouldn't stop you from going ...

    Great Barrier Reef

    36 reviews

I don't think I can ever go back to seeing underwater that not Great Barrier Reef. It was just stunning. During just a short snorkeling trip, we saw turtles, shark, countless fish, and amazing corals. It is a great place to develop respect for the mother earth and nature, as well as seeing some amazing marine life.

Once you are in this place, for me I felt like its a different world. If you are here make sure you try the pancakes at "Pancakes on the Rocks". Those pancakes are the best! I found this is the only best place for me in this place. One inconvenient thing was we walked all the way from Opera house ...

Stunning heritage facade however don't peek behind the good looks! This building is beautiful and a great photo op, and being right in the CBD easy to get to. Inside however it is simply a functional rail station and not a very pretty one or one that works well. If you need to catch a train by all means use ...

Take a walk through the grounds. Make sure you check out the pond in the middle, and walk out to the coast to see the views of the harbor. A popular wedding setting.

    Melbourne Cricket Ground

    33 reviews

Best place in the Australia to witness all that is the AFL. They do tours too but I can't remember if they cost anything. Still get tickets to see some old Victorian based teams (Essendon, Collingwood, Carlton or Melbourne) during footy season and you won't regret it.

There is some cool stuff to see inside, including one of the fattest crocs I have ever seen, but it is expensive. I do not think it is worth the money.

A different take on the Aussie beach, this is long, long, long and a great place for a swim or a jog. Great little cafes along the beach, and places to eat or picnic.
