A little city, tucked away, just far enough from LA to get out of the bubble of smog, but still close enough to take a quick weekend getaway. Many gourmet restaurants in town, as well as places to eat on a budget. Check out the houses to rent, very affordable- and all stocked. Take in the ocean and the forest.

I always liked the sound of Atascadero as a child when we drove through town on the old Highway 101. The town is located further inland than the other major towns in the area, making it hotter in summer and colder in winter. The downtown is an interesting place to visit and enjoy the classic architecture.
