This glamorous bar in a swish boutique hotel is thought to be one of Dublin’s finest. Expect a fashionable crowd here who like to drink. It’s all about the cocktails here with a huge selection of spirits on the back bar and a great list of drinks to work from. Their Manhattans are killer so definitely get a round in ...

The theater is the newest arrival on the 'arts scene' in Dublin, having just opened in March 2010. Everyone knows the Abbey Theatre, but if you want to get out and explore someplace new, try catching a performance here. They have an extensive lineup of performers and shows already scheduled.

A fine tribute to the amazing poet Patrick Kavanagh. "Oh stoney grey soil of Monaghan you burgled my bank of youth" Just one of his lines, he spent a lot of time here by the canal reflecting, and now we can do the same.

Mespil Road. If the weather is fine and you would like to eat outdoors, this is a great place for lunch. The photograph was taken in the depths of winter but there were still many hardy souls eating outside which must say something for the food. lunchtime (11-2) Farmer's market on Thursdays by the canal.

I really love the style of this Anglican Church, it's quite unique, and dates from 1824. This Georgian style church has regular services, & is open to public viewings each Wednesday & Thursday lunchtime. The church also hosts concerts, with Sharon Corr & James Vincent McMorrow playing here & Beth Orton due to play here in December.

    Moore Street Market

    Dublin, Ireland
    1.65 mi from Aviva Stadium

The market on Moore Street is well worth the short detour from the attractions on O'Connell Street. They sell fruit and vegetables, flowers, fish, and black-market cigarettes. A point of etiquette: the vendors will yell at you if you try to choose your own fruit. Don't even try. If this bothers you, there's a Tesco up the way a bit.

Highlight of my trip to see the Book of Kells exhibit. If you're a fan of illuminated texts this is incredible! They don't move you out of the room with the actual texts so you can linger and really study the pages they have open. Seeing the famous library was also fascinating although I didn't find the exhibit all that ...

Great people watching and you're almost guaranteed to hear some great street music. I've heard anything from opera singers to salsa bands. It's also a good shopping lane with smaller lanes branching off to great restaurants and more shops.

Amazing archaeology museum with loads of artifacts from the Stone Age to the Vikings to Medieval Ireland. They even have some Egyptian artifacts just for fun. My favorite section was on the Iron Age where they show piles of gold jewelry, tools and even some bog people. It really gives insight into how people lived at that time. Okay, and ...
